Das Bild war einfach perfekt als Referenz für ein schwarz-weiß-Portrait! Leider ist der Account deaktiviert (o_o) 
Bei der Hut habe ich erst helle und dunkle Flächen mit den verschieden Graphit-Sticks flächenmäßig aufgetragen und dann mit 
Papierstift verwischt- als ich fertig war, war ich selbst erstaunt, daß es gar nicht mal so schlecht wurde

Yes, the eyes are the most important parts of a portrait. More specifically for the expression...maybe that's why they called the "gate to the soul".
