i plan on making my own mario character, an antagonist who will kidnap rosalina i havent gotten his name or the rest of his character design down yet other than hes going to a human character like most of the others.

Me too. In the official page of Mario kart DD they say this "Catherine appears to be Yoshi's girlfriend... or does that mean boyfriend!?".
The part of it is her boyfriend maybe is because people dont know Yoshi or Birdo genders, but I believe that Yoshi is male because of Super Mario World cartoon and because of that Birdo is female.
