Golly! Β I can use this on my Star-fleet laptop. Β Guess I'll have to post a render.

Man, if you could make an English skin for the onscreen keyboard for Windows Vista, that would be sweet.

Only problem that I saw with this was the colors. Some of the purple/redish. Other than that, excellent work.

Thanks and yes, those are not the original LCARS colours. It was a custom set with more variations of blue and grey.
If you'd like to adjust the colours or do further work on the design you are welcome to contact me and get the original layered file.

Nice idea for a home computer's console in Star Trek's 24th century! I love that the "space" bar says "Engage", although I would half expected that to be the "Enter" key.

It is the "enter" key but the spot was screaming "engage" to me
If you would design such a piece for a touchscreen there would be no need for this layout since I positioned all keys to fit a standard keyboard layout. And you could do a layout that is closer to the design of LCARS.

Make it!
You don't need a touch keyboard since the layout matches the standard

I like this VERY much.
If only it were possible to get a touch sensative keyboard and "superimpose" this design on top of it.

I just tested an setup of LEDs where the polarity of the LEDs is changed so they act like a cheap photodiode.
So it would be possible to build an LED multi touch interface

Awesome!
If you build it, they will buy it!

I really enjoy your keyboard layout and general design.
I posted a link to your dA page here: [link] age=1
You should check out LCARSx32 if you're a trekkie.

Pretty cool.
I would really like to see how it turns out if you can really build a keyboard with the layout.
I tried to position the layout to a standard german keyboard. So you could take the thin foil and contact plates from the keybaord and glue the printed layout on it.
You would need to build a case but I think that's a good way to let it look like a PADD.

Well the idea is to use it as an on screen touch keyboard seeing how LCARS x32 will be touch screen based.
But several of the forum members have already started discussing on how to get that keyboard to work as a stand alone keyboard (i.e. not on screen).
