Description  Sometimes I just look up, up up at the sky and think, how big it is, how much space there is up there to breathe...how small I am, how small my life is here on the ground. Up there, it's exciting because it's full of possibilities. It feels limitless. Empowering. I want to feel, I want to fly and feel my body soar through the air like it does over an ocean swell. Over a wave.
The sky chooses colour subtly. Some days bring the spring into your step simply by being sunny. And other days bring out your ugly and your moody. Some days the sun shines on when it feels like your world has ended, and not even the weather cares. Such a perfect tableau of emotion. Yet it's open and exciting up there, and it saves me when I'm at my worst, and I look up there into it's vastness.
I love the sky best when the sunlight breaks through the clouds. It's devastating how all the different textures in the clouds and the many different shades of blues, golds and whites come together with the most interesting contrasts. The sky right when a storm breaks feels exhilarating and when the clouds reveal the blue -- be it a harsh and hard grey-blue or a soft deep sky-blue -- the perspective the clouds add remind us how deep it really is.
Imagine walking one snowy winters' day -- one moment your feet on solid ground and the next -- down a rabbit hole. With everything covered in white, in a sky so absent of colour it's white as well, there'd be no way to tell the depth of higher from lower or wall from winding path. There'd be nothing, nothing but whiteness. Nothingness. The clouds give us the perception to see its vastness. How easy it would be to forget the space up there if the sky was only one shade.

So if you're going across the land somewhere, and you can see the sky's almost imperceptible gradients of depth on the horizon, then, hello, friend. I'm glad you stopped to enjoy this day.
