Well since I've never really ventured beyond black, I can see why.

Okay... black is a little hard for the eyes. But a really dark white (gray) looks mostly good.

Yes I agree I just like showing what be::shell is capable of that's why I try so many variants

Yeah... and it looks really good what you do with it.
Currently I'm playing with scripts, meters and update panels... oh man, I love it!

Thanks Lars that means a lot really and I love what you do with it as well
Yeah I seen Thomas added some scripts one of them being be.pacman and posted on be::shell forums on how to create a display or something to see it. I haven't heard anything back yet

I use it with be.apt script in a button
and created a cronjob for the script. That's all. Nothing serious.
The only thing what I needed to do was rename the script to beapt.sh because
it does not work with the other name. Why ever.
I created a scripts folder in be.shell folder for all
my scripts and linked the cronjob to the script into this folder.
for Pacman it should look like this be.shell:
[Pacman]
Exec=
Icon=system-upgrade
Label=Updates:
Mode=1
Pollintervall=60000
Type=Button
Exec... whatever you like to do or open (it's a button)
Do not rename section [Pacman] otherwise the script will not find the button.
... and of course you can change font in style.css by create:
#Pacman
{
font-size: 7.0pt;
}
Tip from Thomas: For changing font color (in dark themes) use this lines in #Pacman:
border: 0px solid none;
color: red;
without border you can't set a color. The downside of this is that mnemonics (accelerators) are visible. They you could hide with padding and margin values. It's as always a littly tricky.
