looking at your global menu thingie in the panel there it occurred to me, is it possible to have normal window list in kde panel but with no icons? just text (label)..
anyway nicely done. i'm trying to get along with kde on my other computer, running debian testing. it's very fast and i know that chakra is too. but i'm very ignorant about KDE still

I'm running x-bar for the globalmenu and I removed the apps from the panel cause I use cairo-dock that shows my running apps. I'm sure you you could tweak it I just don't really need it. I set up exactly what you mentioned in gnome shell. I hate app icons on the panel (just my opinion). thanks man much appreciated, debian testing? so are you running kde 4.8 yet? Yeah chakra is pretty cool I have really just one complaint but don't if it's my system or not when I restart or logout it hangs and sometimes just sits there I actually have to kill x to get out. Yeah I used kde for years but love how gnome shell integrates the evolution calendar into it cause i use google calendar quite a bit. But kde is pretty awesome and totally tweak-able. Thankfully I have a seperate hard drive that I installed it on

no, it's 4.7 in debian testing, sid i think has 4.8. i haven't come across any problems at all, actually. when i tried running kubuntu and then mint kde on that same computer i couldn't turn on even the basic desktop effects, with debian it all works and flies. with chakra also. but chakra wouldn't automagically connect to my mobile broadband so i went with what i know, debian.
i will be very disappointed if with a million configuration options in KDE i can't get rid of icons in window list in the taskbar/panel i hate them too, visual clutter.

That is totally weird After all kubuntu ad mint are both debian. Yeah I don't know about the icons but ask around I'm sure someone has figured it out. And if you figure it out let me know

Hey everyone I just updated to kde 4.8 and notice in dolphin the location path is not blended in with the rest anymore anyone know how to change that?

Smooth. Your best screenshot so far. I'd have preferred a little different color on the UNO parts
then on the rest but looks good nonetheless.

Hey thx Rob yeah I just tried a darker color on the UNO and yeah your right it looks a lot better thank man.

Hehe, I usually like to invert some stuff to get more
contrast,,, -Give it a go, bespin makes this a cakewalk

CraazyT In reply to Th3R0b [2012-02-05 17:21:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah man I'm tweakin it totally now have you figured a way to blend the location path back into the main window? I upgraded to kde 4.8 and it changed all that, it actually looks like crap and I haven't figured it out yet.

Th3R0b In reply to CraazyT [2012-02-05 20:30:37 +0000 UTC]

You mean.... you want the complete filePath visible in
dolphin(?) titlebar? like "/home/user" instead of "user"?
No, I don't think Peter has included an option for that,
however, you can show the complete path in the KUrlNavigator
widget if that helps

Nah, look at my scrot and look at dolphin [link] I can't change the color of the navigation path even if I make it the same color. I was using bespin/workarounds/Dolphin: unite iconview, url navigation statusbar but it's not working in kde 4.8. I found a way around it by not displaying the toolbar but I'd like to figure it out. I fixed it also by not using gradient and using plain in bespin. Have any ideas? Thx for your feedback man I appreciate it Look at this scrot to see the bespin/workarounds/Dolphin: unite iconview, url navigation statusbar when it was working in 4.7 [link]

Th3R0b In reply to CraazyT [2012-02-06 07:43:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that's because Dolphin > 2 uses the next
generation itemviews and not the standard ones.

This is a no-brainer to fix and I shall tell
Thomas and he shall have it fixed in the near
future. Thx for reporting, let me know if you find more
bugs. You are running bespin from svn right?

Nice scrot btw

even have thought about it

CraazyT In reply to Th3R0b [2012-02-06 22:45:02 +0000 UTC]

Well glad I can tell you about more bugs LOL!! What option do you use if not that? Or are you coding what you use

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Th3R0b In reply to CraazyT [2012-02-06 22:47:33 +0000 UTC]

Well that really depends on the screenshot you mean

CraazyT In reply to Th3R0b [2012-02-06 23:03:00 +0000 UTC]

Well I know you tweak dolphin for sure, but you go a really good eye on your color matching and making everything just pop man!

Th3R0b In reply to CraazyT [2012-02-07 14:18:38 +0000 UTC]

No, I don't tweak dolphin specifically, That would be
stupid, I simply write whatever style hacks I want
in bespin Thx for the compliments!

CraazyT In reply to Th3R0b [2012-02-07 14:58:46 +0000 UTC]

Wow how do you do that in bespin? I don't see any info pertaining to tweaking it (unless your coding it in) are you? Thx man for responding back

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Th3R0b In reply to CraazyT [2012-02-07 15:25:54 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I'm coding, as you can see in my screenshots they
don't look much like bespin.

Th3R0b In reply to CraazyT [2012-02-05 16:51:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah there are a lot of variables for kde, it's aimed
more for power-users then gnome

CraazyT In reply to Th3R0b [2012-02-05 17:23:38 +0000 UTC]

yeah I love how tweak-able it is. Tweaking gnome I I had a few areas that I haven't figured out how to blend completely. But I'm learning as I go. I'm hooked now into theming and can't stop LOL!!
