Red is mates, or lovers.

Pale pink, or just pale, is friends who look out for each other. Otherwise known as moirails in Homestuck.

Ashen (seen between Makis and Flame) is that guy who settles things down between the black quadrant.

Black is love/hate, but mostly hate.

If there's another line going through a line (like Foxfeather and Dia's relationship), that means that the relationship has ended (or the ship has sank)

If there's a mix between the two colors, that means there's a possibility of both.

If there's a '??????" there, that means it's unknown whether or not a ship has sank or if the ship is even possible.
