Description Yup, I still like misty jungles! This in neither the first nor the last jungle scene I'll be doing. Just wait until the Extended Collector's Edition of Avatar arrives at my doorstep in a few days time - then there'll be nothing but jungle scenes!!!!

Quadspinner makes me want to do desert scenes, Avatar makes me want to do jungle scenes, the roleplaying books I'm doing the layouts for makes me want to do fantasy scenes... there's just too much inspiration and not enough time!!

Software - Vue

Thanks for looking.

Wow - Thank you so much!! I feel very honoured being listed with such great company!!!

And by a great Poser/Daz artist herself!

Have you thought of adding Vue to your skill set yourself? (although I was trying as hard as I could to work out whether you're using it already in your renders). It comes in a free version (Vue Pioneer [link] ) which you can use to make backgrounds and use them as backdrops to your Daz renders (or comp them in Photoshop afterwards) and with the next version up (Vue Frontier [link] ) you can import your creations from Poser (I'm not sure about Daz) and render them in the scene taking the atmosphere into account as well.

You are most welcome! Love your work.

I've considered Vue for a long time, just never actually got to it! I'd love to make my renders more original and more elaborate. Will absolutely look into those free version you linked me! The frontier version sounds a lot better though lol, but will try it out before committing to it.

Have you downloaded Vue Pioneer and played with it yet?

There are some free video tutorials here that'll get you started very quickly if you can manage to understand what they're saying with the accents.

I'm looking forward to the results!

Will do!

Exam went great I think, thanks for asking

CraigJohn In reply to ClvArt [2012-08-13 09:55:08 +0000 UTC]

So what was the exam for, if you don't mind me asking?

And if you DO mind me asking - it's 'tough' because I already asked!

...but you can ignore it.

Haha, I don't mind! It was for my psy final that I missed during spring semester. Had to review the entire course, so took up a lot of time. I got one more to go!

When I saw this at first I thought it was a photo..! Wow, this looks really amazing! The tree on the left side has so much texture and the lighting on it looks fantastic. The tree tops look lush and alive, separated leaves and then the stone texture and lightning are just fantastic. Bravo sir!

Lovely stuff. It reminds me somewhat of the Myst series of games, the kind of world I could get lost in for days at a time...

Amazing render man! Certainly one of the best Vue renders out there. I have always wanted to try Vue but I am sure that my computer will catch fire.

In that case, you need to try the FREE version (VUE Pioneer [link] ) right now to see (and make sure you have a fire extinguisher handy)

...oh - and thank you!

how are you creating such jungles .. its really amazing .. what's your machine !! huh ..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CraigJohn In reply to vivekrevi [2011-07-04 09:47:33 +0000 UTC]

Hi Vivek, It's not so much the machine than it is the software - I use Vue which specialises in vast eco-systems of hundreds of thousands of instances very easily so this scene is pretty tame compared to what it can do.

This scene ([link] ) actually had more instances in it because of the blades of grass.

But my machine is a 3 year old Mac Pro by the way.

vivekrevi In reply to CraigJohn [2011-07-04 10:52:13 +0000 UTC]

wow .. okay .. thanks for the info .. okay so you don't have to create such trees, leaves, instead, its already built in that software .. is that what you telling ! .. am more interested to know about this software then .. can you just explain or just post the software's official site or something about it ! thank you ..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CraigJohn In reply to vivekrevi [2011-07-04 11:17:22 +0000 UTC]

Hi Vivek, The official page is here - [link] and you can purchase, or choose the free version from here - [link]

It does come with plant species and you can modify species yourself too to change the type of leaves, number of branches, length, thickness, twistiness etc. Terrains can be created with ease and can be infinite using procedural functions. Atmospheres can be many different types.

It has presets but to get the most of it, you do need to go beyond them and create your own or use those as a base for your own (except you don't 'need' to change plants unless you want a species that isn't supplied). There are also other plant species that can be bought through here - [link] (as well as other presets too).

Vue has a product that can be used within Maya (I notice you are a Maya user) as well or as a stand alone product in many price ranges including a free one.

Here's a dA group that's pretty much only Vue renders of all sorts and if that does't get you to at least try the free version, then nothing will!! [link]

Feel free to ask any more questions.

vivekrevi In reply to CraigJohn [2011-07-04 12:23:41 +0000 UTC]

okay thank you for the info .. i will try one standalone product .. i have tried v-ray in maya once, it didn't worked out pretty well, v-ray and vue are both different or the same !! i don't know .. v-ray didn't helped me that much, anyway lemme try vue standalone .. because i don't want to make maya anymore heavy .. so i guess, vue is best as environment application .. creating environment in maya is kinda heavy, i will try vue now .. thank you once again ..

CraigJohn In reply to vivekrevi [2011-07-04 19:33:30 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome!

And yes - V-Ray and Vue are totally different.

vivekrevi In reply to CraigJohn [2011-07-05 00:32:56 +0000 UTC]

that's really great to here .. in-fact i googled it as well .. .. it's actually a relief to here both are different, as i had failed using v-ray once in maya .. hope vue won't be the same .. anyway am gonna get this software ..
