Description I DID NOT MAKE THIS!!! I found a doll creator for digimon and used that, then edited the hair a brighter shade.

The dol/character maker belongs to ~koolktk2222
Here's the link if you wanna try it [link]

I know it was lazy of me but I wanted to get this up as a refferance for an Art trade. And my hand was hurting from processing request over the past couple days (for those of you who request/follow me and know that when I actually start on processing a request that I usually complete it in less than 24 hours sometimes less than 12 depending on my level of drive)

Bio time!!!
Name: Arien Vaerun
Hair: long choppy pulled in to a loose ponytail coming to midback.
Eyes: Blue
Skin tone: Light
Additional info:
A teenager with a lot of interest in the occult. She carries a tarot deck for advice before making decisions. She does fortunetelling and cast's magic spells.
Being the oldest of three sisters and the care taker of her mother who was injured in a car crash has robbed her of her more child like aspects. Her father works very hard to support his family and customarily takes his frustrations out on her and her sisters after a bad day at work, which has made her extreamly overly sensitive to criticism and due to that she has a staggeringly low self-esteem
She believes she has to be the responsible one in the group and look out for the needs and interests of everyone. This can cause the others to be rubbed the wrong way by her. A caring but sensitive individual, she often tries to take a motherly role (since it's a role she's familiar with in her own life) in the group. This on occasion earns her a little snapping from other members like Takuya, Koji and Zoe who consider themselves to be more grown up than they are, Tommy however is often comforted by her gentle nature and seeks to cheer her up along with JP and Rose ( 's oc) after a conflict with the others when she seems a little down.

She is one of the first to realize Duskmon is not a native digimon and is infact a transformed human. Despite the warning of her friends she went off in search of him and ultimately found herself overpowered by him. Just as he was about to deal the final blow to her she looked at him with tearful eyes, begging him to try and remember because she could sense the humanity in his soul. This caused him to hesitate just long enough for the others to come and make their rescue. Later when Koichi comes to his senses she becomes very close with him.

Human Digimon Spirit: Crystangewomon (essentially Angewoman with crystal wings.) She is devoid of Angewomon's pink sash and instead has tiny crystal shards that dance around her. Strangely she is also missing Angewomon's helm with instead a light blue silk sash tied over her eyes yet she can still see through this but it give the impression of the stature that says 'Justice is blind'. She is the represtentation of the latent power helds with in crystals. Her crystal shards have 3 major abilities.

Diamond Dust Shield- summons up a tremendos number of shards to distract her opponent and defend her allies however the make up of the shield lead to it only blocking smaller attacks while a very large attack and digimon could break through it though if a digimon were to 'break through' it they would sustain some damage from the razor sharp edges
Glimmer Strike- The small crystal shards turn into a downpour of needle like slivers however when focused she can create a larger crystal 'spear' to launch at her foes
The third function is unnamed but it allows her to draw upon the laten power of many different kinds of crystals for all sorts of healing and calming effects. This however still fails to prevent Takuya and Koji from their occasional battles.

Beast Digimon Spirit: Mystramon (a blue furred fox kunoichi [female ninja] loosely based on the forgottenrealms diety Mystra and mixed with a little Renamon, however she has long thick blue human like hair on her head)
While she does wear a measure of clothing her body is still covered in a coat of blue fur. In her right hand she carries a mace that can be used to negate special attacks such as fireballs and other directed blasts. Powerful and wise this kunoichi fox is well versed in magics and can use said abilities to aid her allies while distracting her opponents or to bind her foes, after all it is said that natural creatures still have not forgotten the ways of magic which she embodies. Her mace is her primary means of attack though she has a few abilities that do not stem from it.
Mana Crusher- Slams a foe with her mace which inhibits a foe temporarily rendering them unable to launch special attacks. This can be a real tide turner but the effects only last 1 minute and the effect does not 'stack' for each subsiquent hit. She must use the attack again after the minute has run out to continue to inhibit her opponent.
Soul Resonace- Striking the ground with her mystic mace she, through the power of magic, enhances the defensive capabilities of her allies by using magic to transfer a portion of the damage they recieve to herself. This while a self-sacrificial move can make it easier for her friends to fight however, she is left completely vulnerable durning this time as she must focus only on her allies.
Mystic Mist - this is a pre-battle move ONLY it takes her 5 minute to do this and it summons up a magical mist to surround her opponents causing them to see her opponent's allies as strange frightening creatures, leading them to attack each other or flee.
Sacred Wave - Releases an energy wave that temporarily disorients all foes in the area. Only useful on lower level digimon she doesn't want to hurt.

wow long bio for the spirits ^_^ oh well just how I roll I guess. I will get a self drawn pic of her up at some point along with her digi forms but that will be after my hands stop hurting

I tried to make her somewhat unique but also relatively balanced. I didn't want to God-mode or Mary Sue but I also didn't want an excessively weak anti-sue either. and then I thought, well most of the others are out there fighting their hearts out but is there a more support type role among them? No not really thus that was a post I sought to fill and I think I may have done that very well. I'd love to know your thoughts on the various informational peices about her.

yeah that's the trouble nowdays, people are scared to make a relativly interesting character as they'll just get classed as mary sue

but i think your oc sounds like an actual human, like unique, and the support position is great

yeah i think she suits kouichi as well, as he kinda needed all the help he can get XD

Well I know a Mary Sue when I see one. I learned early how not to make a character. When I was 12 I began writing fanfictions, some mean nasty person ripped me and said I was a Mary Sue writer. I was immediately offended and went off in search of what constituted a Mary Sue. My understanding of a was an overly perfect character, from a wonderful and pleasing life, every one of main character of a fandom loves them and they are always a villains target because of some power source or some such. They have an item similar to a rare powerful previously one of a kind item. They never get hurt/lose. etc. etc.

After that I went to the anti-sue phase which lead to the development of incredibly pathetic characters ones that need protection and a lot of help. these anti-sues were also no good as they were essentially useless.

So I sat down with my parents Gurps (Generic Universal Role Playing System) Basic Book and began to study. Mind you I'd been making characters since I was 7-8 to do a roleplay game with my parents. It was a blast because we did a 1930's game, but my first character was made for me by my dad so I was still rather... wet behind the ears.

Then I realized. I could make an interesting character but I just had to be cautious. In the basic book it listed advantages and disadvantages. The way it works is you start off with x amount of points (in my dad's game that's usually 100-150) from there you can buy higher levels for your 4 basic stats. ST (strength) determines your basic damage, how many hit points (but it gets listed with health) you have, as well as encumberance. IQ (Intellegence obviously) which determines the level of skills that use more of your mind. DX (dexterity) is the one that determines how well you perform out physical skills. HT (Health) determines how physically capable your character is, and how much fatigue you have (if you cast a spell or fight it wears on your fatigue. When your fatigue is used up it starts taking it out of your hit points. You CAN have negative hit points but that means you are at a much greater risk of losing your life so most gm's don't employ this rule to my knowledge it may just be my dad.... anyway) Then what ever remaining point are used to buy your basic skills and advantages. They all cost points, but then the character maker's saving grace. Disadvantages. They give points back to you allowing you to have a few extras to throw around for skills or other advantages but depending on the severity of the disadvantage it could be extreamly crippling in game play.

So I thought to myself how to make my characters like that. So I always try to write out their background in my head. Typically I do use events from my own life to lay the basic foundation. in this cast I do have tarotcards and stuff like that and do fortune tellings and the like. My mom was in a nasty car crash ... geez I think 2 years ago already and it's cause her problems. I have two little sisters I'm often asked to come help look after and my dad has a very stressful job which leaves him in a bad mood when he gets home at times, which is when he likes to yell at me for not having a real job (my 'current job' isn't even really a job it's looking after my grandma which eats up a large portion of my day) I'm younger than a number of my friends but a lot of them come to me for advice, so it kind of puts me in a motherly role. But when I get snapped at I do tend to get pretty depressed. But when my temper flares watch out.

So taking myself, a real human, as a base line I worked then to try and modify the real me to fit the world that my 'character' would exist in. I looked at each person and tried to figure out 'how would ______ react to someone like me?'

From there it was time, in this case, to figure out what Digimon I'd turn into. Well that was the tricky part because I had to figure out what each embodied so looking around my room I saw a book on crystals and a book of magic as well as a ninja book. Well I had always thought it's be cool to have a digimon like Angewomon so I modified her to have crystal like wings and no helmet, instead a blue silk sash around her eyes making her 'appear' to be blind. Then I added the floating crystal bits to make her more majestic looking. But for all that glitz and glamour I didn't want to go over the top on her powers. She is after all an off shoot of the Angwomon's digivolutions. so I worked out nessicary thing I though the group needed to base her abilities. So first I said, well any group should have a shield, but she has to have a means of attack. And then healing was a must have so I made her attacks and defensive capabilities a bit weaker to boost her healing... but her healing takes a bit of time and has to be done out side of battle. And I though that was a fair trade off.

Next came the beast spirit. That wasn't much fun until something clicked. I wanted to take the whole magic angle and enhance it with the ninja properties. In another perusing of my collections I saw (inserting godly music here) Naruto. And that's when it hit me. A fox! A fox like ninja digimon! It was briliant so I began to design her out in my head. I used Renamon as a mental basis. But she didn't look very ninja. again I perused my collection and found my Testarotho manga (it's mature rated so you may or may not find any pics when you go looking) and began paging through it and saw Sabati. She was a gorgeous woman who I'd used the outfit of before for my Naruto oc. So that got me pondering then how to really incorperate magic now that I had the ninja thing down. it was then I recalled a character of my mother's who had the mystical mace of the forgotten realms deity Mystra, mother of all magics and her mace could absorb and cast back absorbed magic. Her color was blue so that became the fur color out of respect for Mystra. Well I couldn't make the mace as powerful as all that so I played with it. It could deflect incoming blasts and such and knock away any projectiles and when striking an opponent it's temporarily seals their abilities thus giving birth to Mana Crusher, but unable launch special attacks right back like that. And then I provided her with a powerful spell, mystic mist. It was something I felt could be useful so I turned it into an attack. Then I thought... well there are a bunch of Digimon that don't really mean to get mixed up in what happened their just acting out of self preservation so those just need a good stunning ergo Sacred Wave is more that sufficient. But then came down to the support role again... what could make it easier to fight... well if part of the damage they recieve was transfered to another person that could greatly increase some chances of victory. So came the creation of that. I thought well magical energy by-in-large is supposed to flow through the earth. So using the magic mace to tap into it would cause the energy in the area to resonate at a particular frequency and by focusing it she could lessen the damage done to her friends... oh but that was a little god-modely... so how could I adjust it? OH of course, many times the person doing that stuff is vulnerable because so much concentration is needed. So vulnerability, check. Now what else... oh well obviously after a certain ammount of damage she'd have to revert back to her human form. so the limitation was set then came the need of a cool name which I took from Soul Eater. Soul Resonance. Man oh man did that sound sweet.

And thus my character was born.
Angel and I rp'ed a bit and I found that I REALLY liked Koichi (or Kouichi for those who have a preferance to that spelling.) So when I told Angel that when watching those eps I didn't think that Duskmon was a native digimon when he appeared she got this idea that I would be one who'd understand that he had a human soul. And such a revelation would make it hard for me to fight him. This brought about my attempts to reason with and make an ally of Duskmon. But of course at that time I was unable to win because I was still not strong enough and ended up reverting to human. With one last desperate plea I though 'op and so ends this character' but he froze... something in my characters words and eyes touched the real him, Koichi. Confused he drew back as the other members of the group came in for the rescue. Granted she did get a royal scolding from the more hot headed members but only because they were worried.

So by and by her development became this, what you see before you today. Ahhh again with the long winded-ness. Well I hope that this can help you to understand the whole relationship better and that it helps any who read how to create a character WITHOUT getting a Mary Sue or and Anti-sue.

wow you're good at typing impressive XD

yeah you have a point, anti-sues, imo are usually worse than mary sues, cause at least mary sues are interesting; besides, wen people acuse characters of being 'unrealistic' when the whole book's usually about magic or time travel ormonsters and that crap, and they're calling the character with the tragic past unrealistic

well you seem to have you're method all figured; my charaters, the fcs anyways, usually start as little presences on the telly, or in the book, that tend to say what i would and eventually, if i have an interesting idea they become a character, usually with some hobbie or interest that i have heard of at the time, like my septimus heap oc, nerris, likes knitting.

but yeah real life situations applyed to characters make then seam real, and easier to relate to, not too ott or boring.

for instance, my digi oc diesel, the one paired with joe, has the situation of her dad being in jail, like lots of kids face. due to that i kinda made her a bit of a hard nut.

oh btw about the trade, i hope you don't mind dancing
