Wow! This is awesome! Was it for a game or film? Really nice texturing work!

Hey! thank you, it was a little exercise that I set myself that grew bigger and bigger (as most of my things tend to do). I made a (overlong) flyby video using the model that can be found here [link] and a little action set piece that is here [link]

I am very much the same with the bigger and bigger aspect...this is why i never finish anything.
Your animations are awesome. I loved your little test because event though you were showing your work and 'testing' the attention was there; It was very aesthetically pleasing, cinematic and fit nicely with the music (and the optical flares did not go unnoticed ).
Although obviously now i'm also stalking your vimeo page.

Thank you so much for your comments and feedback, both here and now on Vimeo. Youβre far, far too kind and optical flares rule!!!
When I was at Uni my lecturers were always telling me ideas were too big. Of course I never listened, hence the dark circles under my eyes from the numerous all night sessions before a looming deadline, but I think itβs been worth it.
Iβll have to do a bit of vimeo stalking of my own now.

I get that a lot at uni...but i'd rather do something awesome, half right, than something boring that a monkey could do. I'm the type who will spend ages working on the little details because that's what sells it for me. I'm more than willing to be up to all hours working on something i really like, and want to see complete.
Also i think it makes me want to do it the best i can. I go into proper sleep-deprived zombie mode at hand in time. Tea helps.
Honestly though, i've learned more doing the big, unreasonable projects than i have on the simple technical tasks.
I'm doing a photorealistic character for my honours project, when i first told my lecturer he looked like he was going to have kittens. lol

Thatβs a fantastic attitude to have. Itβs far better to think big and make mistakes than it is to play safe and learn bugger all (those mistakes make you a better artist). Your right about the little details, itβs always those little things that people might not automatically notice that help elevate you work above others.
Wow! Iβm really looking forward to see how your photorealistic character turns out, it sounds like itβll be amazing project and donβt let your lecturer put you off (they just want an easy life).

Thanks dude. I'll be posting the project up here as i go along.
I'm doing some practice work just now for the photoreal textures and projections, so that should help when it comes to that part.
But for now it's back to the deadlines...
