As you can see the overall profile of the hull is similar to the Apache. Larger, articulated winglets and a stabilizing tail allow the AW128 to safely and smoothly reach speeds of over 100 knots. When at speed, the lift generated by the tail, winglets, and vectored thrust of the twin jet engines reduces the effective weight of the AW128 such that the ground pressure is roughly equal to that of an uparmored HMMWV while the M227 Wampanoag's effective weight has a ground pressure effect comparable to the M128 Stryker IFV.
