I made this a few months ago when I was playing through the entire Castlevania series. as I completed a game I would check it off by driving a stake through it

The other castlevania games are part of an alt timeline. While the rest are part of the main timeline i had no idea maria renard would return in symphony of the night.

I do believe that at one point all the games were considered canon, but then Konami released an "official" timeline that removed several games (many of the handhelds), but then they released a NEWER official timeline which added all those games back in EXCEPT for Legends.

I'd heard that Iga removed the game from canon because he didn't like the idea of a female protagonist in that specific time period. Which is stupid considering how the rest of the series is purely fantasy. So I say include it in your own personal timeline if you like.

Awesome! My favorite series! And I'm probably wrong on this, since I didn't play the N64 ones much, but didn't Legacy of Darkness come after 64? I seem to remember playing as that kid (I think his name was Henry) in LoD as an adult, but having him follow you around for a bit in 64. Oh well, the thing I remember the most from 64 was that annoying Magical Nitro sequence!

It is indeed a comic book version of Bram Stoker's Dracula which, oddly enough, is part of the official Castlevania timeline. I do actually own this comic and it's pretty entertaining. But I thought its cartoon-y cover was best-suited for this little timeline ... so.. that's what I used in the image!! Glad you like it!

No, im pretty sure it just takes place at the very begining, even Konami would be dumb enough to retcon 20 years of backstory just to start fresh with a game im still pretty certian didnt star its life as a real castlevania game

Nope, it's a reboot. Not that IGA won't make any more in the main timeline, but for now Lords of Shadow is the start of a new, more Christian-based Castlevania world, separate from the old one. Lament of Innocence is and will be the first in the main timeline.

god damn thats annoying, especally since Lords of Shadow royally screwed up the most important element to the series -_-

I mean it's not like the main timeline is screwed up, Lords of Shadow I think is better looked at as a gaiden, a non-canon allusion to the series rather than a legitimate entry. That's what it is at its core anyway lol. I just want a Demon Castle War game and maybe one showing who's going to fill the power vacuum created after Soma refused the position of Dark Lord.

No but for a Castlevania anything, they fudged up something way too important to overlook (I wont say what that is for anyone who hasnt seen the ending) so either the sequel pulls its A game to fix things or Konami does more Cannonal entries because I cant accept that let down ending.
I just hope we get a new Belmont to take the continue the legacy of the last one from Dawn of Sarrow (im blanking on his name right now but ill get it later)

Thing is, you can't think of LoS as a Castlevania game, but rather one loosely based on the world of Castlevania, sort of like a film adaptation. That major ending detail doesn't affect the main story of the games, so if IGA wants he doesn't even need to mention it again, and that will actually be in his best continuity interests. More canonical entries by IGA and his team won't affect the LoS timeline and vice versa, so you don't really need to worry lol.
As for a new Belmont, I just wish they hinted at Julius having kids, currently there's no mention of it. But the series does allow anyone with Belmont blood, no matter how thin, to wield the whip, albeit with certain degrees of side effects...I guess we'll see.

Well to me it does matter because no matter how lose of an addaptation it is, it still has the words CASTLEVANIA writen in bold lettering, so to anyone new to the series its not a fair intro to the series. I dont know whats the right solution here, I want to see if they can fix what the mucked up but starting anew (again) would be safer but redundent, its all up to Igaruga and his cowboy hat now.
Thats true, Someone in the bloodline must have been a real playa because theres alot of groups out there with belmont blood. Honestly if they get realky desperate they always could send a woman back in time to sleep with a belmont to rebegin the bloodline.
