Tadddaaaa.Amaterasu Okami is the main character of the game "Okami" which is based of Japanese legends, and stories.
The first tale that is revealed in the game is the legend of Orochi, and Nagi. Orochi, an eight headed serpent that would throw an arrow from the sky and name a chosen maiden to sacrifice. The maiden would go and the serpent would eat her. Nagi, dressed like a maiden, took the maiden's place and with the help of "Shiranui" (Who is the original form of Amaterasu), defeated the beast.
100 years later, the decendant of Nagi, Susano, took the sword protector from the sacred area where Orochi was defeated, and released evil onto the world. Amaterasu took the body of a statue of Shiraniu, in Kamiki village (Home of Nagi, and then of Susano) and embarks on a long, difficult adventure to defeat the revived Orochi.
Dude, it took me about eight hours to get there, the second time. GEEZUS. First time, roughly 24-27 hours. Long time, man. But then, ohmygod, THEN you have to go, beat the freakin' ninetails, hardest part of the game is without a doubt that freakin' blockhead on Oni Island, damn migraine dealing with him. And then?! You think the game would end right? NOPE. Off to THE PAST, 100 years to be exact, to do what? DEFEAT OROCHI. AGAIN. PISSSS. THEN, you need to come back, and defeat twin demons, PISSSSS. THEN YOU GET ON A GOD FORSAKEN ARK TO THE HEAVENS AND FIGHT EVERY SINGLE BOSS AGAAAAAAAIIIIN. Oh, and then you face Yami, Lord of all that is evil.
51 hours. 51 HOURS OF GAME TIME. DONE! HA.
...And then it sends you back to the beginning. FUUUU-
