Description
So, how do you know that you have found the oneThat you will spend your entire life with?
A question that both men and women alike
Will spend a lifetime trying to answer.
Fear of dying alone often leads us to false solutions
To the life long problem faced by man,
The ultimate puzzle to solve.
This is a person you cannot go looking for.
No, often times they come to you
In ways both strange and unexpected
But in the end, that seem to make perfect sense.
A simple hello, or compliment
Can blossom into so much more.
A love so strong, a love so true
Unquestionably one of those scenarios
Where he was really made for you.
But how do we know that they are the one
Our other half, that missing piece, your soul mate?
Some may say it is what we see,
The "looking good together" scenario
But one must know that in the world of love
Looks don't mean a thing.
Then if not looks than what could it be
To make that person the one?
Ah, it must be how they show that they care
The displays of affection they present.
But this too is not the answer you seek
No, it does not matter how you show it
A love that's strong is not always seen
But felt by those involved.
So how is it we know we've found the one
The Romeo, the shining star, the one to call our own?
If not what we see and not what we show
Then really, how do we know?
Surely by now you must know
True love is what we feel inside.
It is not about the flowers
Nor the kisses nor the hugs.
It is not finding that person
Who you can spend a lifetime with.
No, love is about finding that person
Who you cannot spend a day without.
When you argue and fight
You do not spend your time
Worrying about who was right or wrong.
You lay awake in your bed at night
Wishing that in the morning, they will forgive you.
They tell you not to worry about them
But you do in none the less
Not because you feel obligated to,
But because you really wish them the best.
You cannot tell a lie to them
No matter how hard you try.
And you will sit with them and wipe their tears
When you see them cry.
The one is not someone you can search for.
You may not even identify them at first.
But when it comes down to it,
You'll know just who they are.
Because love is not what you see or do
Oh no, it is something much larger than that.
Love is what you feel toward that other person
You cannot live without.
It's that warm, fuzzy feeling,
you get when they're around.
It is that pain you feel in your heart
When you are apart.
When you are with that person,
Tour heart races in your chest
And it does not cease its pounding
Until they're out of sight.
So how is it you know you've found the one
That you will spend your entire life with?
The answer to this is simple really
You honestly just will know.

Very good description of how I feel toward my significant other. I use the term significant because she is just that...significant...having or expressing a meaning;meaningful. Just thought I'd say thank you for putting into writing how I feel about her. She is my world and without her my world does not exist...Kudos to you..

Heh, thank you for making my night a little better. You are quite welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. I was trying to portray how I feel toward Will (the love of my life. My one.). I'm so glad that some other person could make a connection with it as well. I was really hoping for that. I like when others can get something out of my writing. I just hope Will has a similar reaction when I show this to him tomorrow...
