Description this is my vision of what clover should have been lol, i dont know if it was the large double double i had or the movie i just went and saw but after seeing GodzillaSamurai's contest i was liek "shit son, i need to draw my view of clover!" and here it is.

it bears both gills for under water breathing and 3 sets of nostril like holes on its sides which lead into a seperate lung system that is used for terrestrial ventures. these slots close up when submerged, so there is no chance of this guy drowning, its simply switches to the gill for breathing.

this creature also sports two mouths. one under neath the initial jaw for small prey(in which it ensares with tentacle like appendages and a primary jaw similar to that of a normal amphibian which is used for larger prey.

the large tail is also very versatile, with more smaller tentacles for snatching up anything small this beasty desires.

the eyes being place on the lower portion of the head was also inspired by several strange and unique fish species that dwell in the dark zone areas of tyhe deep, clover being from possibly one of these spots it could have developed more unusual features than are seen in the surface world.

the "chatterbug" is next on my submission list.

wait you mean the creature designer is designing things for the new star trek movie or do you mean the guys who filmed cloverfield?

Jersey-Dagmar In reply to Crazon [2008-06-09 13:02:28 +0000 UTC]

J.J Abrams is directing the Star Trek movie, while he only produced Cloverfield. Matt Reeves directed Cloverfield and Neville Page was the creature designer for Cloverfield.

Hope that helps.

you just hate movies with no plot, you cant enjoy films for being films anymore, they have to make you think! i know i kinda hate scifi class for programing that in my head lol

theblueblue In reply to Crazon [2008-06-11 14:51:59 +0000 UTC]

No, it doesn't need to make me think. It needs to be enjoyable. If I had known that Cloverfield was going to be a typical horror movie where all of our heroes problems could have been solved by common sense and a good pair of running shoes, then I might have enjoyed it a bit more. It was not what I had believed it would be, which was a giant monster movie even something like the American Godzilla movie (which while really not feeling like a Godzilla movie, was a good giant monster movie).

It had very little to do with the fact that I need a movie to make me think in order for me to enjoy it, it has more to do with the fact that I think, and as a result the movie did not rise my expectations. It was too mindless and did nothing, and at the end of the movie I felt pity for no one, because everyone was too stupid to think about, or for themselves and get their asses off of the fucking island when they had the chance. Imagine how much faster they'd go if they hadn't always turned around to pick up the strongest camera in the world. Imagine if they had decided that Rob's girlfriend was indeed dead and hadn't decided to venture into monster land wasting the entire movie trying to save her all for naught.

These people were stupid. Far stupider than person that I have ever known. The only voice of reason in the entire movie was the guy holding the video camera, and he ended up dying because he was stupid enough to go back for the camera, didn't he?

The solution for destroying the monster is another fun and questionable one. The only real solution is to bomb the shit out of it with conventional bombs, unless you want to drop a nuke on the island, which would definitely take out New Jersey as well, and while I'm sure plenty of people say that's no real loss, I'm not sure the 7 hours or whatever they said it took them to get as far as they were in the 'lot', probably really wasn't enough time to finish evacuation of the surrounding area, especially when it was night and all of the people who would have been organizing the evacuation of places like Jersey would have been busy evacuating people from Manhattan, and wasting ammunition on a giant monster instead. It's a large place to get people out of, and with them as split as they were, it wasn't happening.

What there was of plot was full of holes, as in, there was so little plot, and so many holes that it would have been impossible for it to exist if it was a physical thing.

The point that I am trying is not that it bothered me because it lacked plot. It was because it required a suspension of disbelief in order for me to accept that 1) any of this could happen, and 2) anyone who is as stupid as the people in this movie could possibly have the intelligence to a) walk under their own power, or b) avoid being taken in by the military and shipped off the fucking island before they died. In order for me to be pulled into the world that was being shown to me through bad camera work, I would have needed to have stopped thinking, and stopped trying to understand, and because I had spent since transformers went into theaters thinking about it, and trying to understand, that was a really poor choice for their advertising if the idea was that I wouldn't think about it and instead just be awed by an artistic video expression, which was what it felt like.

You still don't get it, you reek of pseudo-intellectualism. You don't know anything about film and certainly not about how you are to enjoy certain types of films. You have to have a somewhat open mind and not nitpick at everything, especially when your nitpicking is obvious and are things that everyone knows and you make it out to be some sort of huge plot hole. Normally when people don't like movies I think nothing of it, to each his own, but your thoughts just seem stupid, learn to enjoy films for what they're supposed to be. Cloverfield is a ride, that's all, and to me it was a fun ride.

theblueblue In reply to Metawaii [2009-02-22 21:52:37 +0000 UTC]

If you chose to enjoy it, that is your prerogative.

I just thought that it was a crappy movie, with a crappy story, and it sacrificed a visual aesthetic that I would have appreciated in the search of some sort of edgy/artistic flare.

Thanks for being respectful, I was expecting an earful. I do apologize for my previous tone but, i just don't think you can break down peoples taste logically. When it comes to art/movies/things like that emotion plays a huge roll.

theblueblue In reply to Metawaii [2009-02-23 15:07:24 +0000 UTC]

I considered giving you an earful, but decided not to, based mostly upon what you said in this post right here. Taste in movies, just like in art cannot be broken down by logic. If they could then a lot of things that are in art galleries wouldn't be.
