Thank you. I find this shot calming and when I find a frame that fits I hope it will look good as a print.

I hope that one day you will enable this to sell as a print. I was going through someone else's fav's and was struck dumb by your image. I know that it was done with filters and all but you caught the magic of one of my most epic places.
A long time ago....when I was free and had only to travel with my thumb for a ticket, I found myself at dawn standing in the mist on the green around Blarney castle. I climbed up those stairs surrounded by the daub and wattle walls to reach the top as the sun crested the trees......my companion that day was a fiddle player who proceeded to play Irish aires as we stood in the silence. We were undisturbed for a long while.....and before the tourists could disturb us I kissed the stone......and then we decended.
A thatched roof cafe gave us supplies for a picnic and we sat on the witches table in the forest to eat. We spent the rest of the day dreaming in a field of barley as we had lot's to talk about having only one day to share each other's road. We were from different countries. In the field was a lone tree just like yours and we sat to catch up on our journals and I listened to the music again.
The day ended with a hitched ride back to Cork (where my Granny was born) with the local priest. The evening was spent at a pub whose name was Irish for little house. We missed the curfew at the hostel and spent the night counting stars whilst lying in the football green.
The next day I started my long journey back to Canada.
That was 30 yrs ago but it is very fresh to me.....Your photo took me there today as I sit in -30C, in snowy central Canada.
Thank you.

Wow, If I could fave a comment then this would be one of the top faves amongst the comments I have received. I feel so honoured that a simple photo of mine can make someone's day in such a wonderful way and bring back what sound like wonderful memories. Unfortunately I live in an age when it is no longer safe to use a thumb to buy a ticket and as a lone female one must be so much more careful when travelling. It is a sad shame but true, therefore, I can only imagine the type of experiences you gained whilst travelling, against my own real experiences of modern backpacking in Australia.
As for selling it as a print, let me see what I can do. It has a more unusual aspect ratio of 2:1 but only really worked as this crop. I tried it 1:1, 1:1.5 and I just could not get a ratio I liked other than this. Let me know what size print you are thinking of and I will see if I can get it to work at a high enough quality for you.
Thank you so much for your comment. Once again I am really touched by the fact that a photo of mine has moved someone else so much.

What a proud tree! The photo reminds me of a family picture in which the whole family is assembled around their rotund matriarch... It doesn't even look distorted, probably due to the lack of straight lines, but then I guess it's the effect of the fisheye that makes the tree look so portly.

It is the ground that is slightly distorted, a result of not having a tripod to be able to get the camera totally level. I spotted this tree straight away, it was much larger than many of the other trees and I just had to take a pic of it

Wow this is amazing. I always wonder how and where people find trees that look like that. There are all different types of trees here that are stunning. How did you get that effect? Or is it naturally occuring in nature?

Oops, previous comment was on wrong pic, goddamn the close titles of my work. Anyway, this picture was also shot with a fisheye lens and an infrared filter. Do a google search for infrared photography to learn more info. The trees are all real, I think the large on in the middle is an oak tree. As for the other comment (now hidden) that applies to the shot called "Et tre"

Yeah, I noticed that one too, but thought I could get away with it here. I might try and correct it in a future processing.
