That is typical Stig, taking photos of what the others miss.

Thank you, I loved the colours too. I am glad it was such a wonderful sunset because we nearly got very very lost in the dark on the way back to the car. If we had not had the worlds strongest dog with us [link] then we would have been sleeping in the bushes that night. Instead, that little mutt led us through every puddle, ditch and bit of marshland it could find back to the car.

It's a daschund, or sausage dog. She is so cute and lovely and has the biggest brown eyes that are all the better to beg for food with.

Hehehe I like this one; made me chuckle a little bit The silhouettes of the land, photographer, and clouds are really sharp yet don't take away from the actual sunset. Good work!

I really like the finely carved silhouette. The sunset is great and very well exposed (considering it's not HDR photography). Only the bokeh on the sea makes me feel strange; looks like motion blur even if it's obviously not.

PS: I like his hair style too

crazy1ady In reply to graffit [2005-12-02 12:53:28 +0000 UTC]

What does HDR stand for?

Also, the shallower depth of field was because I was shooting handheld and needed a larger aperture to allow for this.

Thank you for your comment

graffit In reply to crazy1ady [2005-12-02 16:10:32 +0000 UTC]

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. It involves taking a dozen pictures of the same scene with different exposures to achieve perfect exposure of a picture with a large dynamic range : from the sun (*very* bright) to shadows (*very* dark). It gives a whole new sense to shooting evening sky. Look here [link]

crazy1ady In reply to graffit [2005-12-05 11:16:56 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, ok. I know that digital camera seem to capture high dynamic ranges better than film (one of their advantages).

I may have a go at that exposure thing, could be interesting

I really like the juxtaposition here, as well as the bit of humor. It is also thought provoking in terms of "What is he looking at?" (of course until you read all of the comments) In terms of the photographic quality, I think that it is very well done, and I like the contrast between the brightness and colorfulness of the sunset and the darkness and blackness of the silhouette. Great job!

Ah, this is absolutely lovely. You have captured a magical moment of two people doing what they love so much, though only one which is really seen but we know you were enjoying this gorgeous view as well. Afterall, how could one not with such a stunning view straight forward. It's funny though, sometimes those best shots are hidden right behind us and we fail to see that beauty. The colours are very striking in the sky though, and it's quite interesting to see the clouds and water out of focus when usually we see a sunset and that is obviously the focal point so I really like the change here. His silhouette is perfect, a great pose and natural which only makes it better.
Compositional wise, I really like where he is off to the side in the frame though I would've liked to seen him just a touch lower in the frame. Beautiful job though

Thank you so much for that comment. Yes, I would have liked to have seen him lower in the frame too now that you mention it, and yes, we were both doing something we love so much and also doing it with someone we both love too. It just makes it all the more special

And what a cute model you have there, or atleast the silhuette of him

Ohhh, And the sunset, I almost forgot about it. It's beautiful. Really nice warm color, that warms my heart.
