Description went shopping today with my aunt, with us was my cousins (neice/nephew is what I generally call them because of there youthful age)

anyway at half priced books picked up two superman and batman comics that seemed to have a storyline where everyone was being merged from two heroes to one hero and two villians into one villian.

Example: Lex Luther and The Joker became Lex Joker, a Business man with a deadly sense of humor.

At the end of the two comic, they left it hanging that the end result for the last two remaining heroes batman and Superman could have been merged together into Bruce Kent. So a little playing around with ideas and I came up with this picture and a short story for a possible origin.

Having crashed as a child in the backyard of the Kent mansion. The multibillionaires where at first scared and shocked, and then overjoyed at having a baby enter their lives. Considering the wealth that they had and the lack of the ability to produce a child of there own. The Kent’s adopted the young infant. Claiming the child was left on there doorstep and that is all they ever told their young son as he started growing. On his 12th birthday Bruce and his parents had gone out to the movies. Sadly however on there way out and to dinner a few muggers attacked. Shooting all three of them.
Waking in a hospital to a nurse that was amazed at his survival. The doctors had found the shell had not penetrated very deeply at the time Bruce hadn’t thought he was lucky, he was saved for a reason.
He just needed to find it.

Bruce hadn’t played much in the 4 years since the murder of his two parents. He’d spent a great deal more time devoting himself to his studies. Those studies mostly where improving his mind, problem solving & analytical skills.

He didn’t seem to need to work on his body as in the last 4 years he’d noticed an ever vast improvement with his physical abilities.

It was on his 16th birthday in Crime Lane as it is called that it appeared. A strange ghostly image of a man claiming to be his true father. An alien from a planet that had died. For a full year Kent Technologies had spent a great deal of time and money in locating the young heir, and yet after a year Bruce had returned home, himself. He was not exactly a changed man, but he carried a new confidence and knowledge. He was adopted by the Kent’s a wonderful family. He was given powers from a planet long dead, he had the power and thanks to his studies the knowledge to make a difference to his city, Gothamopolis.

DC did do a book with the same idea called "Superman: Speeding Bullets". Essentially, the Waynes find Kal-El and raise him, and after they're killed in the robbery, he becomes Batman. His enemy is Lex Luthor, who became the Joker after an accident involving toxic waste.

I ran across the issues you mentioned.
Turns out it wasn't amalgam after all.
Amalgam was a physical fusion of entities, this was done on the dream plane so they called it something else, mash-up I think.
It was still an interesting story & well worth the read.

yeah I really liked this idea, to the point I started wondering about several characters. Although of course as always, me and some friends figure we could do some better mixes. Such as the Toy Maker and Joker, becomes the Joke Maker.

Hmm, Superman works primarily on trust, using a public image to do so. Batman works using fear, using his status as an urban myth to do so.

Also, Bruce Wayne puts on a mask and becomes Batman ... whereas Superman puts on a mask (or more specifically a nifty pair of glasses) and becomes Clark Kent.

yup. This incarnate, works on the fears of criminal world as a myth, I think the costume idea would be this universes variant on a myth of kryton. So debating putting the S-shield on him and calling him superman, yet with batman style and color-scheme

I remember a story in past DC comics like that.
The effect of two people being combined into a single composite entity was referred to as amalgam.

Are the comics you are talking about old or new?
If they are new I'd be really interested to know the issue numbers.
I liked that old amalgam story & I lost track of the books it came from so I'd be interested to see another one.

As far as a name for your character, maybe something like KryptoBat?
I wouldn't go with Superbat just for the fact that a DC character with that name already exists.
The "Most Excellent Superbat".
I kid you not, that whole thing is his hero name.
Some Japanese rich kid with no powers that views money as his super power.
Still, the little run DC did on his group was interesting.

Nice character drawing by the way. ^^

Krytobat? Thats not a bad run for a character name. Sadly it wasn't Amalgam, That was a mix of marvel and DC characters. This one was a mix of DC heroes to heroes and Villians to Villians.

Think the issues where Superman & Batman 60 & 61

>.> can't believe some kid went with that name for a hero XD

More than likely XD

Personally I feel would feel sorry for the batman villians if it wasn't for the fact they all got merged with supes enemies as well
