Description
The newest version of my Dinobot, Swift.I'm really proud of how he turned out, but I did a crap job on his coloring. I'll upload a better version, assuming I'm ever able to DO a better version.
Two things... In this newest drawing, I finally got his dinosaur mode the correct species... an allosaur (The previous times I drew him, he always ended up as a Utahraptor at the very last minute)
Also, he IS still a powermaster. I just didn't draw his as-of-yet unnamed partner, this time.

Nice pic. I especially like the big Autobrand in the background a lot, as I have such trouble drawing those danged things .
He's definitely a Dinobot. Good colourscheme, utterly classic.

Hehehe. I've been referring to him as Classics Swift, since he's such a complete redesign, based on the same concept, as my original Swift drawings.
He's the first of a new group of Dinobots I'm working on.

LOL. Man, you're behind the times. I've had my own group of new Dinobots for years!
Need to do more than sketches of them, though.
Wanna hear about them?

I'm not behind the times, as much as I've had better ideas, and bigger projects come along, like my Mythibots and Dracons that I'm still working on. But with these new dinobots, there's gonna be some changes. Two are decepticons, for one thing.
And sure!

LOL, well mine have some changes too. For one, the leader is sorta a Triple Changer.
Roadsaurus is the leader of the "Neo Dinobots" and is also first mate on the Autobot space galleon Ozymandius. He turns in to a Chasmosaurus and can also turn in to a "car mode", in a sort of Transmetal "dino-car" fashion.
There's are unnamed Baryonyx, Diplodocus and Spinosaurus...as every name I make for them just sounds horrible.
Then there are two non-dinosaur dinobots. What? That's Impossible!
Well, they're prehistoric creatures.
One is a prehistoric elephant, a Stegomastadon to be precise, named Elethunder, the other is a prehistoric hippopotamus named Hippocritical (see, it's a play on words!).
I wanted to have a sea dino, but none of them could offer up intelligent transformations to my mind.

Well... I have Swift (Allosaur, transformation based on Grimlock. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. How many cars transform identically?), Abyss (Plesiosaur, based on Sludge), Slammer (Ankylosaur, new transformation), and two as of yet unnamed. A parasaurolophus (New transformation), and a pterosaur of some sort (Undecided on species, and going to have one of the most unique transformations of any dinobot in history. Official creation, or not. I'm staying quiet on it until I can figure out how it works.)
My goal with these dinobots is to use designs or animals or designs that haven't been dinobots before. It's tricky, when there are sooo many simular dinosaurs.
Swift is one theropod. There does not need to be another.
Abyss is a plesiosaur, so naturally I do not want another sauropod.
I definately wanted a flier, but I didn't want to just copy the original dinobots, which ruled out a pterosaur. However, any flying dinosaurs were theropods, and would put them too simular to Swift for my taste. I eventually came up with a compromise I liked.
The Ankylosaur is a natural choice, and fills a simular physical role as Slag and Snarl.
But the last one annoyed me. Everything I was coming up with was either increadibly simular to a theropod, or was a sauropod, ceratopsian, or a stegosaur. Ultimately I decided on a parasaurolophus, and I'm still trying to figure out how to make his transformation unique, but have the Dinobot feel to it.

Transformations are always fun to invent. I had a sweet one for Elethunder, but it was so complex I can't remember it anymore
I like your dino choice.
What do you think of my non-traditional approach?

Oh yeah, i did forget to comment on them, lol. I actually considered throwing in a mastodon. May find some place else for it. Transformers is seriously lacking in the pachyderm department.
Your guys, while I believe I remember you saying you're not terribly into Beast Wars, they strike me that they would make a wicked maximal subgroup.
They make a really interesting dinobot team, as well.
Snapper seems like it would be a really good name for a Spinosaur, or a Baryonyx dinobot.
Skyview, possibly for the diplodocid?

Snapper makes me think of that ridiculous Snapper Carr, the random guy from old JLA/JSA comics.
Skyview might work well.
I like beast Wars plenty, I just vastly prefer the design styles of other series. Beast Wars had far too many shell-formers for its own good, even though I love many of the designs. I absolutely adored "The Gathering", Furman made me happy...though if that is taken as canon then my BW sequel can't happen, cuz he used up all the pods.
My TF stuff takes place, theorhetically, in the G1 universe after Victory, but I make no real mention of any canon characters, as much as I can avoid it at least. I have a guy called Blastbeat who descends from Blaster, but not in a "Blaster and a femmebot got together and made him" kind of way, ugh....More of a Blaster (likely along with Wheeljack/Ratchet) built a replacement for himself, well for hs duties, and that guy built a guy, and that guy built this guy.

My characters here, since it's basically abandoned, are all set in the dreamwave G1.
Sorta give me ample freedom to do what I want with the cannon characters without being afraid of mucking up continuity to come, even if I prefer to play with my own characters.

S'why I set mine after the end of Japanese G1. I've got millenias to play with before Beast Era.

Looks good to me

I styled him on Grimlock's transformation, save for his head/dino head.
He don't want to replace Grimmy, he (usually) adores Grimmy. ^_^

She's in his other picture. The only thing I'd change about her, is make her suit a liiittle bit mor Powermaster-ish.
I'm not really fond of his colors at all. I don't have the right shades of gray, so it causes two much of a contrast between the two. One's way too light, the other's way too dark.
