Don't Break the Chain: Day 26

If there's ever been a time to say, "It's okay, it's just conceptual art," it's now. There's so much that I can see wrong with this picture, but that's because I referenced a picture of an official Sonic character, proving to myself that the proportions for my characters are not spot on with the official work.
Or else this wouldn't have turned out awkwardly.
But I'm also tired, and all of my art looks like garbage when I'm tired.

Did this sketch earlier today, since I knew that I would be busy for the rest of the day.

Hot dang, Zero, you lookin' good. Likin' the cape. XD
He looks like a fusion of Shadow and Silver, not that I'm complaining. (Especially when remembering some details about him.)
Prior to this, he was absolutely just a Shadow recolor, white and yellow.
I've never drawn him before. I did some sprite recolors years ago, and that was it.

He was created way after Crystal. I'll go ahead and ramble about his creation for a bit.
I was writing Crystal's story, titled "Crystal Chronicles" at the time. When I first created Crystal the Wolf in the fourth grade, I had her paired up with Shadow, as he was my favorite character and I believe I still had a crush on him at the time.
The tricky part is that when I started writing the story, my character naturally bonded with Sonic, and thinking back, I ended up not writing Shadow into the story at all, whatsoever.
Even as my favorite character.
I believe I forgot that I had originally paired them up, because after the events of "CC," I came up with the idea of "Infinity" which was the follow up.
That introduced Zero. A mysterious character from another dimension that appears to have a connection to Crystal.

He's definitely still got a lot of Shadow to him. He's a humorless hedgehog with a somewhat arrogant attitude, seeing himself as higher than "Finite" beings. Crystal reigns him in a bit, but a part of him definitely still looks down on her friends.
He's completely law-abiding; keeping order in the universe is his number one priority, not to mention his destiny and profession. Crystal's as well.

I miss 10-13 year-old me. I was awesome.
I've decided to roll with this story honestly. I've got it all in my head; it never left. With these newer characters I have too, this may be a lot of fun.
I'll definitely be redrawing this later. Everything's just a little off, but at least I've got a design going.

...that cape. I'm not getting rid of it. I love it.
Oh yeah, counting his "bangs" in the front, Zero has 10 spines. Not counting the ones in the front, he has 7.
Because 2 through 6 is never enough, I guess. XD
