Short Bio
Pizza Pockets has been quite the smart aleck since he was small, but that never stopped him from having a social life comparable to his mother’s. It can be argued that he’s made a lot of friends because he’s so friendly, confident, and quick-witted that it was hard not to have fun when he was around. He has made plenty of dumb decisions thanks to cockiness, but he has a way from bouncing back from many mishaps.
And he sure does have a penchant for getting into trouble. When he was a baby, he’d get into stuff and wander off, enough that he had to be kept on a leash… that’d he slip out of, much to Pinkie’s frustration. In school, he could often be seen roughhousing with other colts, or getting into a bunch of dares that could end in disaster. At home, he liked to show affection for his brothers by way of noogies, and tousling his sisters’ manes (that’s how his buddy Pound Cake greeted him, after all).
If there’s any sibling he’s close to, it’s his twin, Fudge. Since she was his only sibling for nearly eight years, he’s had plenty of time to get used to her. He’d tease her and clash with her from time to time, but overall, they’re best friends. They have this weird thing about reading each others’ minds and being on the same page in a situation, which helped them whenever they planned something for their parents (later on, siblings) or got themselves out of trouble.
However, given Fudge’s shyness and awkwardness, Pizza was very protective of her, to the point that he’d get into some brutal fights with anypony who dared to pick on her. He’s gotten in trouble at school and with his parents for those fights, but they’re worth it to protect his sister. When they grew older, he got very wary of anyone who asked Fudge out on a date.
Being Pinkie’s kids, he and his siblings were subjected to plenty of sugary treats. Even if she did try to also give them nutritious meals, there was still enough sugar that Pizza got incredibly sick of it and wanted to cook his own meals. And so, armed with a cookbook, pots and pans, and various utensils, he experimented with food in the kitchen. After so much trial and error, a frequently messy kitchen, and the occasional fire, he ended up making his namesake for dinner, and his family’s delighted “Mmmmm’s” were enough to trigger the appearance of his cutie mark.
One of Pizza’s major frustrations growing up was his father’s Cheesy Sense: it bade him to plan parties elsewhere, under threat of nasty illness, missing a lot of his kids’ milestones. Pizza didn’t like it when he wasn’t home for the local Father-Son picnic, or when he’d have Family Appreciation Day without him, or some other kids suggesting he’s a deadbeat. It didn’t help when he was a teenager dealing with puberty and much of the mental baggage that brings. Eventually, he exploded at Cheese about how much he hated the stupid Cheesy Sense and how it prioritized parties for strangers over Cheese’s own son. Pizza is aware of how much his father does love him and wants more time with him, but it’s frustrating for both to put up with their situation. They try to make up for lost time once Cheese retires from being a traveling party pony.
Regardless, Pizza did grow up to be a good citizen, even running a restaurant with some of his friends (with his favorite uncle helping him start it in the first place). He strives to be a good big brother for Rocky, Berry, C.C., and Sugar, both in keeping them fed and entertained… and also to keep them out of trouble.
