Short Bio
Chirpy and optimistic since the day she was born, Cucumber Melon never seems to tire of life. She has a bounce in her step and a song in her heart, and she's not afraid to speak her mind. In fact, she tends to talk a lot, since she's always wanting to share whatever ideas she has. She does come off as annoying to her cohorts, but she's unfortunately usually the smartest pony there (school or work, depending on her age), so they have to keep her around.

Little Mellie grew up following her big sister Bell Pepper, even when the older filly was annoyed with her. While Mellie will continue to admire Bell for years to come, they do tend to fight. Though not as notorious as Bell's temper, Mellie's own temper can be pretty fiery as well, and they're the two siblings that have the highest incidence of fighting. Still, it doesn't stop the fact that they've got each other's backs in their own special ways, and do enjoy singing karaoke together, even as adults. As for Mellie's younger siblings, she's always trying to teach them some cool fact, reading them a story, or getting involved in their adventures. She even leads them all in the various silly games of childhood.

She does have a bossy side to her--though it usually comes out when her big sister isn't around. She was always the leader in group projects at school, and did keep order at the home when her parents and Bell weren't home. Sometimes, if left unchecked, she could end up drunk with power and being a little tyrant toward her charges. Both Tomato and Flora are working on fixing that problem--after all, it's likely she could take it to destructive extremes when she's an adult!

She's quite intelligent, with a extremely organized mind that runs a mile a second, and energy that makes her zoom or talk nearly as fast. She will make quick work out of any task you give her, especially if it stretches her brain muscles--one of her favorite tasks is helping baby brother Curly Kale plan a party for an occasion. Sometimes, she'll go and do science experiments because science is cool; though, sometimes things can get a little messy with that hobby of hers.

However, she holds back on her smarts at school, since she fears being ostracized. After all, it's not like she can be both a class clown and a straight-A student according to playground politics. Her mother reassures her that there's no rule for how a smart pony should act--she can be fun and quirky while still being smart.

Like her dad before her, she got her cutie mark in participating in a fundraiser. When she showed it off to her Uncle Cheese, he remarked that he now knows for sure that she's essentially a female version of her father as a colt (Mellie's also been compared to Aunt Pinkie and Aunt Amber for being energetic and talkative). However, as a mare, her personality never shifted to serious as much as her father's did (though that may be because they had drastically different childhoods), and she remained cute, fun, and quirky in the workplace.

She's been assumed to receive special treatment from her father while working in his business, but he's actually really tough on her during work hours. He knows she's a tough girl that can take it, because she is going to run the entire system once he's retired.
