If you took that concept to a full sized work, it would most likely hang on my wall before long. You really are quite talented.

I am working on it!Β We probably think alike!Β I do try to stay away from the dark ones, not always wanting to say what I might see, then you might think I am seriously in trouble.

are you able to walk unassisted? when i read about it, it said that the disease can affect just one place, like an arm, or all over. which is the case for you?Β
were you born with it? is it difficult to speak?Β
your photos look very clear, do you use a tripod? my hands are often too shaky to take a picture that's in focus, mainly because of my meds. do you have to take a lot of meds?
thanks for being willing to talk about this!

I will say that I am definitely one of the more fortunate people with CP. I can walk unassisted. But, I do not have good balance. Also, I do walk with a limp (my left leg is shorter). I do get more fatigued more easily. It mostly affected the left side of my body. My right leg and hand function more or less normally. But, they get tired from having to over compensate for the left. I have had physical and occupational therapy most of my life. I have had many surgeries to help fix and maintain the problems.Β
I was not born with it. But, at a little over a year old, I had a cyst form on my brain that affected the development of my left side of my body. I have learning disabilities and other psychological problems, too. I have had to learn to adapt and overcome the difficulties of life with CP as well as the stares and questions and all. I am much more open about it than I was when I was little. I tried to hide it. But, now I know it is who I am.Β
I am probably going to have another surgery in 2015 to correct my left foot from a previous surgery. In the last three years, I have had a tougher time dealing with it. There is more pain and fatigue. I have had actual jobs but as the years go by, I am more unable to cope with rigors of 40 hour weeks. In fact I cannot handle 40 hrs anymore.Β
I do not use a tripod. I am glad my right arm is still very reliable and steady.Β

i've had several surgeries, though only one was a really big one. are you sort of used to it, or is it horrible each time? i used to get so scared about it, but now it's much easier. it makes a big difference (obviously)depending on how long it takes to heal. Β
do you know what caused the cyst?
being able to walk without a chair or cane or walker must really make life less difficult. being stared at is horrible. it causes me so much anxiety.Β
do you have problems with depression?Β
it sounds like you've been very strong. you don't have an, oh poor me attitude, even though your life is so tough. that's really admirable.Β
i suppose the older one gets, the harder things get. it's true for me.Β
not being able to work a full time job sucks. i can't work any job at all. Β do you have trouble sleeping?Β
thanks for being so open!Β

You're very welcome. Surgery is horrible every time. My last one was in 1997. My projected recovery time is 12 weeks. I don't want to have it until spring when snow and ice is gone. It is unclear what caused the cyst. But I believe the cyst caused fluid buildup on my brain. While I can walk unassisted, until the last few years I could go up and down stairs easily. Now it's painful I need a railing or wall to hold on to. I do suffer from depression. I'm on meds. Have been since age 15.
Thanks so much! I do try to stay strong. Yeah I made it through high school and college. And I was an art substitute teacher for 6 years.
