Juz got back from my shanghai trip, needless to say, I took alot of photosThis was taken in some old alley
I'm a complete noob in photography and this was shot with my first ever camera, so comments are welcome!

Hey! Looks like a fine beginner's photograph to me! I am no photography expert, but from a viewer's standpoint, here are a few suggestions:
I would have liked to see a little bit of a lower viewpoint. The picture seems like it's been cut off; not deliberately a skyward view, nor a picture of the entire alley, especially since the bright light from the sky is a little distracting. Sky views are best when there's something interesting up there, or maybe a cool silhouette. That's my take on it, anyway.
The alley itself is a little cluttered. Of course you can't help that! :grin: But perhaps a closer shot of an interesting or unusual part of the old alley, or something that really distinguishes it from the kinds you might see in other countries. Hope this helps at all!
Overall, though, it's clear and the colors are cool. I hope that you enjoy your new hobby!

well, the alley is cluttered like that, its suppose to be a unique characteristic of buildngs during the ming dynasty, they are very close together (not sure if it is ming dynasty, could be other dynasty...not sure) and when u look up, the sky forms a thin line....I took another pic of the entire alley though, but thought this one looks cooler but I agree that the sky could be a little distracting
