Well for a personal logo, you have to start by finding what you want exactly and what you do,
and try find some logos in the net for inspiration , its a good way to start

Thanks for the good advice. Wish I had the brain of a graphic designer for this. I just design patterns and illustrations that often become patterns. I am looking for a logo that has the 'wow' factor that looks great in colour and equally in black & white. I look at the Logo Lounge books for inspiration. Not sure how I can incorporate 'SSP'

i saw your gallery yesterday, and i must say that u have great skills.
and to have a logo, you don't need to have a graphic designer brain.. you just need an idea ! and that's the point.
Btw, you can have logotype , wich means font logo ( just a texte )
ex of logotype : CANON, COCACOLA, LANCIA, FACEBOOK, etc
they don't have any logon they are using their names as LOGO wich called a LOGOTYPE

Thanks ever so much for the compliment and the great advice. Unfortunately I lack the graphic design ideas - not so much the skills. I think I would prefer a clever logo that can possibly be animated if I wanted i.e. BP advert. I would also use type next to it. It is just having the idea that is where I get stuck. Thanks for getting in touch. Love your work by the way - really nice

Thanks for everything. Your website is nice too. I think I have decided to focus on a design featuring my initials now - 'RB'. Not sure what style - but something that has the 'wow' factor...Maybe a clever formation perhaps...a bit like how the FEDEX logo forms an arrow between the 'EX'. All the best
