Name: Astra Stone
Animal Heritage: Dragonfly

Her world:
In this world, the witches are the native species. Their powers and abilities are based on what animal their family are descended from, which in turn gives them their occupation and certain family traits. When young witches reach 18 years of age, they are given their occupation based on their DNA, selected for them by the government. It depends on whether they got more of their mothers animal traits, or fathers.

This is Astra Stone, a witch with the traits of a dragonfly. She is able to hover ever so slightly off the ground, making it easy for her to travel across ponds and open waters, and had to spend the first few years of her living mainly in water to allow her body to properly grow. Her dragonfly heritage comes from her mothers family as her fathers family descended from frogs. She has grown up with the shame of knowing exactly what occupation she will fall into - a pond witch, outcasted by children of families descending from powerful beasts such as bears and wolves. She spent her education learning about pond life and the life cycle of the pond while her peers learnt the highly sort-after skills of fighting, hunting and survival.

Now at the age of 23, America must face the reality that ponds may sometimes be beautiful, but they are often dull and forgotten. Her work in nature is one that is unseen, with her abilities to talk to the animals that live in her pond and the ability to manipulate plant life to protect it often forgotten. but she must remember, the life cycle of the pond is never unbroken, and it's her job to fix it when it goes wrong.

She is a very kind and patient person. She never took the opinion of others on board, knowing how much it would hurt her parents to know that they were partly the cause of it.

Each occupation comes with an attached blessing and curse. America lives by the pond. Because of this, she can go many months without human contact. This is the curse that appears on her left shoulder. It means that she is often not seen, even in busy places. People eyes just tend to skip over her, not even recognising her presence. On her right arm, she wears her blessing - A timeless and ageless beauty. She has a very natural and ethereal beauty, one that doesn't come to the witches who spend their times hunting in the grassy plains to help control the population of certain species.

These two gifts often attract the right people to her. Witches entwined with great perception will spot her amongst the crowd and by the way she just seems to be part of nature itself. Her small group of friends work closely around nature also: A florist by the name of Primrose (who has the traits of a bee), and a water witch named Aquanis, who's job is to control the overrun population of salmon in the waters.

HER DESIGN:
She has a lot of design elements that corresponds to her occupation as a pond witch. Her hair is actually alive, the ends of her hair actually being enchanted to become fish, which often swim around her head, giving her hair a gentle lift. Her cape has the shape of dragonfly wings behind her, something she wears with pride to celebrate her heritage.
