Storm rose into the sky, her hair whipping behind her, a miniature of the tempest that she was creating in the dark sky above. Arms outstretched, she summoned the winds and they lifted her gently into the air. She picked up speed, her momentum carrying her into the midst of the lightning that flickered around her, excited by the prospect of action. The crackling, popping energy danced and writhed, complementing her power and grace as she soared into the middle of the largest, darkest cloud. A moment later, she reappeared on the other side, shooting up towards the assembled army of war machines that floated nimbly in the sky ahead. Thor floated next to her a moment later, settling in the air to her right, the quinjet emerged from the clouds a few hundred feet to her left and hovered parallel to them. Iron man and dozens of other avengers who had various flying abilities soon emerged from the clouds as well, unharmed. Other allies, some who would have been enemies in different circumstances made their way to the top of the storm as well. The two armies faced each other, the only sound that of the thunder rumbling beneath them. "For death and glory....and earth" Storm said softly, she hadn't realized anyone had heard her until Thor repeated the words with a bellow, raising his hammer into the air and summoning lightning of his own. The cry was repeated on the lips of the others assembled, and with the combined torrent of aggressive, crackling energy, the assembled mutants and heroes surged forward to defend their home.
