"The Terasquids were not the only Cephalopods who came to land. There is another group, called the Dromoctopi. In fact, these animals were all descended from a single ancestor, the Swampus which lived in the Bengal Swamp 100 million years earlier and managed to survive the mass extinction. Having now fully adapted to terrestrial life, the Dromoctopi now have functional lungs, just like the Terasquids. The weight-bearing pads (which previously evolved from their tentacles), have now developed further into muscular, functional legs powerful enough to bear the weight of the animal, giving them a gait similar to the four-legged chordates, such as reptiles and mammals. Their other tentacles have now become somewhat shorter, but still capable of grabbing prey and manipulating objects. They have also retained their ancestral beak-like mouth, as well as their venom. Their skin, however, became somewhat thicker in order to prevent desiccation – similarly to the Desert Hopper and the Terasquids. This also resulted their color-changing ability to diminish, with some of the species losing it altogether. There are several species all across Novopangea, such as the Desert Dromoctopus of the Rainshadow Desert (Dromoctopus desertus), as well as the Gliding Dromoctopus (Arbroctopus volans) of the Northern Forest. The latter possesses a membrane between its legs, allowing it to glide to tree to tree; as well as largely retaining its color-changing ability. All species are carnivores or omnivores"
