Taken in 2019. Photo manipulation/effects applied. This was a from a historical quarantine island I visited that housed and cared for people with a variety of contagious viruses of the time. Newcomers to Canada via the St. Lawrence river were brought here for an examination before entry into the public. Very interesting old building but with such a sad history. This particular unit was for cholera patients, which led into another unit for small pox patients which I may show later in another post. Coming across this evocative photo in my collection I realized that as much as we complain about the pandemic of our time, we really are lucky in comparison to the people who suffered through the pandemics of that era.
