I don't write critics very often, since I don't usually have free time, but I really wanted to write one on this because it looks absolutely amazing! I love to see fanart of Disney these days, because it's really hard to find and I think this is just amazing. It's been a while since I saw art of The Little Mermaid! The lighting on the water is perfectly toned, and the simply drawn background fits perfectly with the two characters and the bubbles enhance the setting of it being underwater. First things first, I have never seen a piece quite like this before. I have seen the role of Ariel and Eric being switched before. Eric being the merman saving Princess Ariel. However, I have never see it quite like this. Ariel as a diver wanting to be a mermaid for the prince of the sea, Eric. It's rather interesting and new. I find it refreshing in a sense to see someone thinking outside the box.
As a writer, I would be interested in making a story based on this ideal. But in terms, all I can get from this emotionally is slight curiosity. It's not much of course, but curiosity is interesting and it sparks imagination that is really needed these days.
Your style is beautiful. The shading is perfect for the underwater world, the lines are beautifully soft and so easy on the eyes. It seems perfect for the lighting. The anatomy is some of the best I've ever seen for the Disney style.
However, it is hard to tell on how this was made or what tools you used. It's beautiful, but hard to figure out how you made it.

This is really awesome, and compared to other works, it's very unique. As a writer, I like the creation of worlds and a look into alternate realities and possibilities. A good world and story sometimes takes a unique perspective. You Accomplish that wonderfully.
I'm not familiar with technique, but I don't see any flaws. What I think makes it great though is your vision of an alternate perspective that I can clearly see.
It has a powerful impact. It's a great twist to the scene in the little mermaid.
A suggestion I would like to make. You could do a following piece of Merman Eric and Human Ariel to show another twist on perspective. In the movie, Ariel as a mermaid often looks from afar to Eric. I'm not sure how you would accomplish it, but twisting it around as Human Ariel watches Merman Eric from a far could be an interesting piece to follow this one. Either way, this is an awesome piece.
PS. if you really want to twist things you can include Merman Eric watching human Ariel from afar.
