Description So yesterday in my last post I said I’d make a fursona evolution from my first fursona to Coco, so here it is! You may notice as well that Coco doesn’t really look like how she usually does, and that’s because I tried to keep the oldest versions of each fursona!

so going down the list first we’re at a black and blue Arctic wolf named Exilll. Yeah, I know the name’s weird lol
Exilll was my first fursona, originating from the game Animal Jam. The name was slightly inspired by Animal Jammer YouTubers like Aparri and Bepper, who had weirder names. What younger me didn’t know was that Exilll sounds extremely similar to the XL part of IXL, a math game I hate xD
It’s not the first time I’ve named based on something that sounded good, like my black dragon character I had named Dark Soul, don’t worry, I changed his name lol
I lost attachment to Exilll soon though and eventually transferred into the next sona,,,

Moon the Westie! West Highland Terriers we’re dogs I really loved, so I made my new fursona one with a red bandanna. I will say that Exilll YouTube was a channel I started and soon changed into MoonDog YouTube. With the combination of not liking Moon’s VERY simple design as well as finding out there’s a brewery called Moon Dog, I changed my sona again lol

Next was Molly. You may notice there are two. The main reason for this is because I tried making a German Shepherd dog named Molly, and when that didn’t look great, I changed her to a black lab. My channel was still Moon Dog since I hadn’t gotten a chance to change it at that point. I simply lost interest in the design again so thus I changed my sona again.

Next was Pepper. Pepper was originally a schnauzer, but I got out of interest with her quickly. I later repurposed her into a grey cat with green eyes, and while I don’t have a drawing for her, she was a Cuphead oc, since I liked Cuphead rather early, around my 11-12 time. I’m planning on recreating her though for just a normal oc soon :>

Then came Ginger, probably my most notable oc I remember since I had her for the longest. This is when I changed all my users across websites to Gingerpup, or Gingerpup0309 for my birthday, March 9th. I remembered the only art I had for her was a badly filled in MS Paint coloring for a nice dog art base, I can’t remember who made it though… It was a floppy eared dog base though, an anthro one with the dog walking in two legs. If you knew me early on in amino you may have known my Gingerpup persona.

I also did something really stupid, that being me forgetting to credit the artist lol
But nowadays I’m serious about crediting artists and I’m hoping people don’t make the mistake I did :’)

Both because I lost interest in the design, the name, and the fact that I technically stole art, I moved on quick.

Next was Orca or Oreo my Husky sona! I say two names since it was first Orca and then Oreo. I always liked huskies and for a long time since I first learned what a dog was, huskies were my favorite. I even made an animation meme on my channel with the song Chime. It was my first animation meme featuring Oreo! It was extremely old though and I wanna remake it with Coco some day :>

Eventually I moved on though, my main motivation that Huskies were very popular in the furry fandom. This is where you can start to see how my fursona goal began to be “Look cool and unique” for a little while, and I’m not very proud of the time I was stuck in that phase.

Next was Rosy, my Alt Griffin sona. I liked Cockatiels a lot, and still do, so I made her a cockatiel griffin. This is also when I set my channel name as Critter Creates, and this was what it was for a VERY LONG TIME. I liked Rosy for a while.

Though sadly, like really sadly, later more recently I sold Rosy. I was in a weird time at the moment where I just didn’t want to see her, and was upset that I went through so many Fursonas. I regret selling her now, but I’m remaking her (different enough so it doesn’t look like I’m stealing her or the person I sold her to is doing that if course) but I still miss Rosy and regret selling her…

I dropped her mostly because I Saw Rosy more as a character than a sona. I didn’t see her as me. She was just a cute character.

Next was Spooky. Rosy and Spooky were also mainly mascot characters for my project that I was working on, a series about a fictional planet, so I think that didn’t help when I was trying to attach to them.

Spooky is a fictional skull species known as Llumis.

They were ‘frightening’ species that hunted as carnivores, and had a lot of weird traits. They could play dead like opossums, make themselves smell bad like Skunks, and the tips of their tails and their eyes could glow. The skulls were not part of them and were simply masks to hide their face. I never designed what their faces look like without the mask but if Llumis interests you, I think it would be fun to redesign them :’)

Next was Milkshake. I drifted away from mascots and tried to get just a fursona again. Milkshake was supposed to look cute and have a slightly more popular palette but still look unique. Though like Rosy, she was cute but didn’t really feel like me. It took me a long time to drop her, mostly because I was guilt tripping myself into keeping her as my fursona since I felt bad for changing so much. Eventually I did though and then came the next sona.

Next was my ‘Camp Mustelid FNF’ sona. No joke. She was a mix of Friday Night Funkin’ and Camp Mustelid, couldn’t get niche er than that lol
I was very much into a website called Camp Mustelid and Snowy was supposed to be the mascot, where once again I fall into mascot=Sona, which shouldn’t limit you like it did to me. I dropped Snowy after so many people kept thinking she was a dog or a cat (cough, thanks mom) and I was tired of only hearing that…

Frost came next. I’ll admit, the main reasons she didn’t stay long was because she was more of a Sadsona for one. I was feeling really depressed since I was still stuck in this Fursona identity crisis. She was sad, shy, quiet, and super super self conscious. She certainly wasn’t a healthy sona. The thing that pushed me over the edge though, as ridiculous it was, was that she looked too dark. You couldn’t tell her ears Vs her antlers. I dropped her and then came the next sona.

Zodiac. This was the most ‘Look at me, I have a cool fursona’ one I had yet lol
She was bold, tough, a bit cocky, super sassy, all the things I’m not lol
She mostly contained some kind of anger I sometimes had too, which made her a slight vent character. I changed my username to Critter Bones to fit this tough edge character I had, but I still love the name and it’s my main username nowadays due to how unique and uncommon it is :’)
One good thing Zodiac brought lol
Eventually I realized that she was a show character not a fursona. I dropped her and then came,,,

Sahara. Sahara was a Tiger sona that I mostly made because a shirt I had from Nomad Complex made me really like tigers lol
I also loved vintage stuff, so she was gonna be a sassy tiger with a vintage color palette and vintage outfits. Of course, this didn’t last long. She didn’t feel like me this time either and I didn’t really like how I drew her since I was inexperienced with Tigers as you can see here lol

Clover,,, She’s got a bit of a story actually. I used to want to make a comic called Clover the Calico Cat. It was a story about Clover learning about the world she loved in from a cat’s perspective. I never got past the cover though. There was also a time where I had a red border collie character, and Clover here as my mascot far back, and when I called my channel Clover Can Do. I don’t remember when all this happened though which is why it’s not in the timeline, but some point I got back into Clover, but then I dropped her again and kept her as a normal character since I liked her but not as a sona.

Blink was next, a dark brown character with orange eyes. She was HEAVILY inspired off of Opheebop from FNF, since I got into blob characters and Little Elcho (an animator) really got me into all of that stuff. Eventually I dropped her though so now she’s a character, since her backstory was super specific and made me lose attachment with her as a sona.

After Blink we got to Coco! She went through a LOT of change. If you’re curious about her own special development, I’ll link a post I made for her in the comments where I went though all her different versions! Somewhere when I had her I almost dropped her again, for a mostly NITW and Fuelled (fan film) based sona, but I finally decided to make the cat character there be a character I like and use for venting specifically, and Coco is my true fursona.

I a,most changed my username to a few different coco based usernames like Cuppa Cocoa, but I’m glad I didn’t, in case my sona changes again. I really love her a lot though and I have a feeling my journey may finally be over.

Why I like her so much is that she takes the cute sweet look that some of my various Sonas have, but she can still be drawn cool or darker if I want to. I also like that she is unique because I made her how I want her to look, not how I think people would like it. I find it really funny actually that she has gotten more compliments on how she looks than Zodiac, the fursona I made to look cool lol

I’ve been giving her fun traits though, like Spiked collars and a crocodile tail nowadays which I think makes her super fun! I like how I actually enjoy drawing her now, and she isn’t too complicated where I forget aspects of her and patterns. I love her a lot and I believe she’s here to stay!

Are you indecisive on your fursona? I know I sure as heck was.
The only advice I can give if you were in a boat like me:
*Don’t be afraid to make husky/wolf/dog/fox fursonas
*If somebody judges you for making a common species then they aren’t worth your time
*If you like common fursona species but are nervous about it like I always was, mixing fun other animal traits like Coco’s crocodile tail can likely give you some uniqueness.
*Don’t be afraid of using more common colors, there’s a reason why it’s popular.

It took me a long time to get to making a fursona I truly love, but you may notice that Coco shares traits from older Sonas that I generally like about character designs. Fluffy manes, floppy ears, big tails, boopable noses etc lol
I also noticed I love brown shades so I just went with it.

I know a lot of people say that you just need to make what you like but I can’t emphasize that enough! I was so obsessed with making a sona that looked cool that I just didn’t have fun anymore… Please don’t make the same mistake that I did most of my life :’)
