Description
Recently, three young cats (who's names and identities have not yet been disclosed) admitted to have ventured into the forbidden woods, entering from the southern Kingdom side. One of their companions, who was identified by the others as Basil Mistara, a mist elemental from the village of Winter's Vale, never returned from the woods and is presumed to be dead. More information on what the students found may be released later, but for now they were safely returned to their homes and will be brought to their respective government leaders for further investigation at a later date.
Many communities in the Kingdom and Forgottens were shocked by this news, and it has left a single question in the minds of many cats; what is in those woods?
RP PROMPT: In a drawing, short story or RP starter, portray your character's reaction to the news and disappearance of Basil (who was 16, so student characters may have met her before). You can also show your characters overall thoughts on the woods and what they think should be done.

Mono Enots - Anything but Skype ;-;
Still, like a statue, the spellbound cat stared into the beckoning woods, lost in thought and halted by its ominosity. Why did it always amaze her? No matter the season, nor the time of day, the same undying longing slithered its way under her fur. This urge was primal, infatuating. If she could just walk into it, even for a second, she would be lost in a word where her voice couldn't be heard, her senses enhanced, and she would be lost in her own mind in silent ecstasy. However, despite her urge to find herself in the night, the feline kept her distance. Fear, though not expressed, could be felt through every strand of fur on her body. She was not shaking simply because it was cold. Mono walked along the edge of the taboo wood, practicing an assigned patrol she knew by heart. Again, the feeling of longing to just run through the trees made her whisker's quiver, yet she held herself. That wouldn't be a wise decision. The she-cat had heard the news about the assumed dead individual who foolishly waltz into the woods. Mono was not about to become a victim of her own blinding emotions, but it made her wonder what lay beyond the invisible line between safety and cold entropy. A night hag perhaps? I cryptid of sorts? She rolled her eyes at such an idea, yet kept an eye on the growing shadows in the trees and their bare branches scraping the sky, wary that danger could be lurking.

The dragoncat scowled, lashing their bright tail. "Who would be stupid enough to explore the forbidden woods? Especially without telling someone trusted-- did they not at all plan ahead?" the thin molly scoffed, curling their lip. They seemed more annoyed by the perceived lack of planning then the likely death of a student. She shook herself, baring her teeth. "Stupid kids. We should send out trained soldier so no more of these students decide to brave the forest."

"You know that's impossible though. The forest is far too big to block from those sneaky cats. Besides, if we do get enough cats to guard the forest, how many soldiers will we have to patrol the borders and guard the Kingdom immediately in times of need?" The dark cat replied. "What we should be doing is finding and asking the three that were involved what happened. I'm wondering what's happening myself."

"Maybe it is. But I would imagine there's a few places cats would prefer to enter at-- we could start there." The Forgotten cat lashed their tail in annoyance, curling her nose. Where did this kingdom scum come from? "How reliable is the word of a bunch of kids? They're probably terrified, and once that happens, what do you propose we do?"

"You're right. Not that many would be willing to go into the forest at this time, though." Alexis flashed a grin of mixed emotions, the white blending with her black fur. "Why, if we can't trust the kids, then the only other idea I can come up with is sending cats to the forest to investigate. Perhaps you Forgotten cats would like to lend a hand first?"
