Wool roving over pipe cleaner armature, air clay hooves and horn, glass bead eyes, August 2012. About 4" tall.My second attempt at needle felting (the first was a bumblebee, and will not make it to dA)! He is a little bit derpy, but I learned a lot from him -- like, don't use pipe cleaners on things with spindly little legs and tail. And that I should maybe acquire a couple of thimbles. You'll probably be seeing more of this type of thing from me. I think I like it.
Plus I have a boatload of roving still to use!

I'm still learning the tricks of felting, so I've got some practice to go before I feel like I'm doing a good enough job to offer them to other folks. Someday, though, I hope!

Haha, well, he currently is being kept company by my Bernie sculpt, plus Thrall and an SC2 marine and a tiny Twilight Sparkle. He's a little bigger than they all are, and enjoying it immensely to judge by the look in his eye.

Haha, I only just started felting, so I hardly feel it would be fair to offer things for sale quite yet! I still have a lot to learn, but yes, hopefully some day in the future, I will be up for selling felt critters.

Oh my gosh! It's so cute! This must have taken you ages. This is one of those type of things I'd like to put amongst my collection of dragon figurines. It's so beautiful! Can't wait to see your next project.

I honestly didn't keep track of how it took! I need to do that next time. At a guess, I'd say ... 4-6 hours of actual work time? There was a lot of waiting for clay and paint to dry, and then the felting was done in two major sessions with a little bit of poking in between, but I really have no idea how long it took. I just kept poking it til it looked right.

Wow! It's amazing! I love the wild mane and beard especially. The shape of the rump and overall proportion is just lovely. The pose for the pic is so thrilling too! You did a fantastic job. I wouldn't it have thought it was only your second felted project. It's really fantastic. Looking forward to more!

Aw, thank you! I'd really say he is second and second-and-a-half, because I got him all done about a week ago but then was missing some pink for his nose and ears, so he sat around for a while. I got the rest of the roving yesterday, got the pink bits on, and then added more white in some places, too. Now I'm trying to decide that should be next on the list!
Heh, I didn't stab maybe TOO many times, but more than I liked! Those little things are sharp!
