I liked the first one it had an excellent origin for Dracula and his weaknesses. Kind of wondering why the next two barely followed the first, especially since all 3 were written and directed by the same writer/director! Just saw the third one the other dayand I gotta say it's better than the second one at least!

Yeah it was all a bit weird. The first one was quite fascinating, and I think it looked very slick thanks to Patrick Lussier's direction it (it was his first directing gig after editing a heap of Craven's flicks, I think). It is bizarre though that he tossed all the mythology away to create a new one for the sequels. That said, they had Diane Neal in them, and I'm a huge fan of hers

Yep, he was Craven's editor for quite awhile and I think he did it even after Drac 2000. I've always wondered why he changed the mythology. Of course he wasn't the only writer in 2000, then you have to take into account of the DP and the designers! My only complaint with the look was the damn advertisements from Virgin Records. Did they pay for the whole f@#$in' movie or what! I'm suprised that Jesus' cross didn't have a Virgin Records sticker on it. At least that's not in the sequels!

You see, I hated the first one. Most of the kills weren't suspenseful since they were told in past tense. That's why I loved the second one because it made you think you were watching something of the moment when in fact it had already happened. Nifty twist. I have all of them except for 7 now and I gotta say once you get past the torture porn, I like the who dunit/ soap opera aspect of the movies. It's like a big serial!
Like I said they leave ways to bring it back. They also tie up a lot of loose ends. It could go either way. i think they need to just take a break for a couple years, then produce Saw: Legacy!

I thought you said you just saw 7 (pardon the pun)? Saw 3D is 7...
I kinda like the big serial aspect of it, but at the same time, I think it makes it very difficult to watch it year by year, because you tend to forget what happened in the last one. And there isn't much of a whodunnit aspect to it, though, is there? It's either Jigsaw, Amanda or Costas Mandylor
I don't mind the idea of leaving it for five years and Saw: Legacy appearing

Sorry I got a little confused - when you said you had all of them except for 7, I misinterpreted that as I've seen them all except 7, which made no sense as the conversation started with "I've just seen Saw 3D" 
Yeah, I have the six of them as well. The torture porn doesn't bother me terribly, but I think that once Whannel and Lee took their their hands off the steering wheel, the series got a little confused.
