Description The Galactic Empire’s Death Star vs the Imperial Fists mobile chapter fortress the Phalanx. Both ships are massively powerful, and currently in a stalemate. The void shields of the Phalanx prove more than capable at deflecting the Death Star’s mega laser, much to the shock and surprise of the Death Star’s crew. Yet the range is so great that the Phalanx’s own weaponry is past it’s effective range. As the fleets engage in pitched battle, the two behemoths close the distance towards one another hoping to cause some sort of damage at short range, and all the while slinging powerful shots back and forth at one another as they charge.

Well, the Phalanx with like, 10% of its weapons after being damaged did manage to shatter a Blackstone Fortress in the Fall of Cadia book, which I imagine to be made of much more resilient stuff than the Death Star. Plus, the Plalanx is actually moon-sized, so it can just ram into the Death Star, or, alternatively, concentrate all of its weapons on the superlaser disc when it is firing, disabling the Empire's most powerful weapon in the battle. Plus, even if Palpatine would be using battle meditation to enhance the performance of his fleet, the Imperium would have loads of sanctioned psykers and some very powerful librarians who could cause havok in ways that make the Dark Side look paltry.

The Imperium could also fanatically ram some of its smaller ships at dangerously-high sublight speeds at the superlaser dish, after seeing what it does and because the Imperial Navy has a habit of ramming things. Alternatively, pull off a Dominus Astra and detonate a battleship's warp reactor as close as possible to the Death Star. The Imperium knows how to deal with Chaos and the warp, the Empire does not.

Also, is Thrawn here? I wonder how the Imperium will deal with him, provided that they could get to him to begin with.

Gotta close that distance though. Then its assault pods away! Just gotta watch out for those turbolasers at close range.

The thing is that SW speed and range of fire are pathetic in space. Fastest ship i found could fly at speed of sound and biggest behemots of 40k fleets are at least 30 times faster + the battles are fought at distances where you can see the enemy with your eyes, but lets say that this is hundreds of kilometers, than you have IoM's macrocannons which, as was stated in BFG rulebook, cant miss at 4,000(km, most probably, becouse their range is 40'000km as is stated in FFG's Rogue trader and statistics in those books translate to each other quite nicely, sadly RT was the only one source i found showing precise range of weapons of 40k) (if you have any canon/high grade EU stuff to quote on SW range and/or speed i will gladly listen). When the GE starts thinking about long range artillery duel for the IoM it is time get your hands dirty in corridor fighting.

I'm going to level with you chief. I did this pic mostly for fun and because I like seeing these two empires fight it out. Not really looking to debate just enjoying a good crossover that unfortunately doesn't have enough visual mediums depicting it (just lots of forum posts arguing the fight).

I have no problem with that way of thinking about the pic, just seen the seed of discussion and wanted to join. I like discussions.

fair enough. Admittedly there is certainly a lot of work put in for calculating the power of both fleets ( www.stardestroyer.net/tlc/Powe…

forums.spacebattles.com/thread… ).

We just need more pictures of the match off.

I am waiting impatiently . Could you make jedi duelling marine, clashing the swords?
Btw, did you see

This is about infantry, there are also series about tanks and fliers by those two. All of those series first say what fluff states and than calculate what happenes in real life. I especially like AdMech rifle that makes your body go boom.

Interesting video, though, I feel like some aspects of the guard are underestimated.

As for the Jedi dueling marines.....
