Alright, I'll help you identify it. Try to use the crystal to scratch your fingernail. Tell me the result (scratches or doesn't)

Okay, so it has a hardness less than 3.5. Good. Does it appear to have even edges, or is it messy and unorganized?

Alright. So it's transparent, soft, and its cleavage is difficult to discern...it could be Halite or Calcite. If you can find a clear vinegar, take a small drop and put it on the crystal. If the crystal fizzes, it's probably Calcite. If not, probably Halite (which is what most table and rock salts are).

Do you have any vinegar? As long as it's translucent, and not cloudy, it can work. Calcite reacts with acids, and vinegar is the safest acid I can recommend. Or you could try using flat Sprite, but it might make the crystal sticky...

Yeah, that's the best I can do. I could tell you to lick it, and if it's salty, it's Halite. But I cannot recommend that, mostly because I don't know where the rock was, and how unsanitary it could be.

Likely, it is Calcite. Acid will make it fizz.

Geodes are rare. But one crystal in a rock isn't really sellable. But it's a cool thing to collect.

Well, if you want to try that, give it a shot. Salty, Halite. Not salty, probably Calcite.
