Thank you! I wonder how many people in this community likes Marius,　since he seemed to be very dumb in the musical. In the original novel, he had a hard time wondering which side of political state he should believe, enduring his poverty and studying hard and becoming a lawyer. Still it is not a struggle to live and more of his policy.

My feelings toward Marius fluctuated during the book. When he walked out on his grandfather, I cheered. While he was stalking Cosette, I was laughing at him. When he reacted the way he did to Valjean being a former convict, I was irritated. When he made every possible effort to get to Valjean before he died (and chewed out Thenardier), I was willing to forgive him. Marius had a difficult life, maybe not as difficult as some, but he had his problems. He's not my favorite, but I certainly hold no hatred towards him.
