Personality: Howl is a quiet person. He keeps to himself and doesn't involve himself in crowds. If there is a fire, Howl would look away. Such adds to the fact that he doesn't speak to people, at all. Holding true to the old saying, "don't speak to strangers," it will take the more persistent of persons to get him to speak at least one word. Most of his conversations are through gestures and his expressions, which makes him very easy to misunderstand. He is an unlikable person at first impression, but once given the chance, and even when persisted enough, he can crack a smile.

Likes: Howl likes small things, mainly because he is so tall, that there's rarely someone bigger than him. He likes his personal space, rarely letting people come near him or even touch him. Jewels, Howl is dragon to the bone and he likes to hoard some jewels on his person. However, he doesn't eat them like some dragons do and would usually give them away to crying persons, though only this occurs if the person crying is somewhat likable to him.

Dislikes: People who are too personal, too into his face. In the light of a confrontation, he will run in order to avoid getting yelled in the face. When people bug him to talk or even misunderstand him. When he does converse, he makes an effort to get his points across, so it is irritating to him if a person he is speaking to misunderstand him many times.

History:

In an different country, a baby deino boy was born. However, it was not to loving parents or even parent. Both were out of the picture as the infant was taken away from his mother and into the hands of his uncle, the zoroark Kouga. Kouga kept the name his mother had been muttering to the infant deino, How-ru, and raised the child along with his espeon wife, Kali, and their growing family.

Because deinos are born blind, Howl did not know that his family was different from him, and so he grew up believing that he was a late bloomer. When would his tail grow the fur that his father or mother sported? Why was his ears different? Howl only thought it was the delayed responses of his growing body, never thinking that something amiss. That in this family he was the odd one out. He was loved, cherished, just like any child the two foster parents had, and they raised the dragon boy with responsibility and morals that they shared.

However, they couldn't stop the oddities that surely was passed on by his mother. Howl began to speak less and less. He knew language, he wasn't addled like some children that were born in his circumstances, so Kouga believed it was more of a choice than a handicap. The boy was also reclusive, only sticking close to family and the friends that would be patient with the boy, handle his odd behaviors.

Then, Howl evolved. Like a flower unfurling to bloom for the first time, the shadows faded from Howl's eyes and at last he could see. And what reality did he saw. His parents did not look like him. The only thing he shared of his foster father were his eyes, and even that did not belong to Kouga. At the startling truth, a great fear began to grown within the newly shaped hydra. If Kouga and Kali were not his birth parents, then who were? And worse, why did they give him up so easily? The boy had been taught of the importance of family, so it was like a splash of cold water to realize that he didn't have a connection to his foster family, only the blood that both he and Kouga shared.

Howl was past sixteen, the age where he was to take a trade and begin his own life. Now that his sight had been given to him, more opportunities opened up, easing the mind of his mother. Kouga, on the other hand, noticed the coolness that Howl was regarding them with. No, it wasn't a cold behavior. It was one of fear. The kind one did when they knew someone was mad at them, thus they tiptoed about in hopes to not get them matter. Finally, the zoroark confronted his son about his behavior and managed to get Howl to talk to him. Once the boy confessed his inner feelings, Kouga wasn't sure how to handle them. Yes, they were different, but at least Kouga shared some familial connection with the boy. Then Howl confessed what scared him the most, that his mother Kali would stop loving him like his real mother did.

It was then Kouga gave his son the censored version of the truth. Yes, Howl was an outsider in their family, but only by so much. In reality, Howl was Kouga's nephew, and that his father was his very twin, who was missing since the day Howl had been conceived. As for his mother, Howl's mother did loved him, but because she wasn't in her right mind, could not care for him the way he should be taken care. Or rather, how a mother should have taken care of her son. Because of this, Howl had been taken away from her and given to Kouga to raise instead.

This explanation should have appeased the boy, and in some ways, it did. But the gnawing fear, the suspicion that he too would be abandoned by his foster family would not go away. Howl made a decision then. He had to go find his mother and ask her for the reason why she couldn't take care of him. This fear, the unable to choose his career path, the hesitation that continued to hold him back. Maybe all of this would be settled if the boy met his mother, spoke with her, and maybe learn of her origins. What about her family? Why had he been given to his father's brother? What legacy was there on his mother's side? If he knew this, perhaps Howl's insecurities would cease and he could finally take a step forward.

Hearing his son's plans, Kouga did not encourage or inhibit him. He had done all he can to raise Howl as his son, giving him love, security, and most of all, his pride that he was his first born. If this was his decision, what right did he have to try to dissuade him? The most he could do is give him a passage to where his mother was last seen, and a good luck. Kouga told Kali that their son was going to meet some of his old connections, in hopes that one of them would interest him to take it as a career path, never telling her the true reason why he was going. And it was a shame, for had Kali known, no doubt she would have put Howl's mind at ease.

Alas, this is where Howl departs from his home country, and sailed forth to the Sun Empire (Pokimono). Here he hopes to find some answers of his parentage, and maybe get a start in his life.
