I love those vintage illustrations of animals. Your drawing definitely reminds me of those, with some gothic elements added. I tried to draw a cat holding an umbrella for a friend recently, and failed horribly... umbrellas are ridiculously hard to draw. I think stylizing them like this might be the best option!
