ACEO (2.5 x 3.5") acrylic on acrylic paper.coated in opalescent varnish (it's shiny!)
modeled after a northern harrier but I did my own design with it as well.

"There is one special place I call my home, a promised land painted in rich blues and golds. In the pure turquoise sky clouds drift lazily by, and it is over fields of hot sand I joyously fly. Scarlet sun by day, mercurial moon by night, the ever-changing cosmos brings me endless delight. I will perish when my body is worn, and quietly release my spirit during my final fall from grace. A jeweled soul from the turquoise sky will take its place, and from the warm tan sand I shall be reborn."

Wowzers Jessica, the background is fantastic, and the multicolor feathers of the bird, in their various flowing shapes, is icing on the delicious cake! I personally think icing is nasty, but you get my point!
If it wasn't so close to midnight where I live, which is my bedtime on Mondays, I'd gladly whip up a poem for you. Alas, I don't have the time to think about what I want to say, so again, you'll have to wait until tomorrow. I have a decent break after my first two morning classes, so I'll return to this deviation and hand over my gift.
Loving this artwork, and it's another one that I've added to my must-buy list. Still waiting on my darn refund! Doh!

I got caught up with a bunch of stuff at school today, so that's why I didn't create the poem. I'll do so this evening, because I have to think about what concept to go with. There are so many possibilities! I won't let you down, Jessica!
