Drummer sculpture: plastic drums from Christmas wreath, paper clips, various screws, part of a tape dispensing gun (tong or what ever ya want to call it), spool from clear tape, black tape, glue, positive side from D, C, AA, AAA batteries.

I made this just after I think it was Christmas of 2004 or could be 2003? I was simply board at work and I found thrown away wreaths in the trash and ripped the drums off of them. I have drums at home and wanted to make a set out of the drums I found so, I grabbed a bunch of crap and got to work. The drums had little bumps on them with string wrapped crisscross on them so, they kind of looked like the classic “little drummer boy” drums so, I cut that all off. I glued the tops and bottoms on the drums so that they wouldn’t come off and then cut one down to make a snare. I used paper clips to make the hardware for the drums to stand on and then began to make cymbol stands. The cymbols are as follows: + side of D battery, Ride, 18” Crash, 18” China. + side C battery, Hi-hat top & bottom side, 16” Crash. + side AAA battery, 10” Splash (I had some dead batteries and pulled the plastic wrapper off of one. I noticed that the positive side was spot welded in place and kind of look like a cymbol so, I took a tech screw driver and popped ‘em off and then punched a hole in the center.) I did a 4 tom with single kick (I have 5 toms on mine with an over size 42” kick drum) and piccolo snare (I don’t have a piccolo snare on mine but, want one.) Oh also for the kick I made a Double kick peddle ‘cause I have one too. The drummer is like 8 paper clips, 4 bolts & a part from a tape gun. The Throne (drummer’s seat) is, I think 2 paper clips, center of a roll of clear tape & black tape wrapped around it. It’s all crazy glued to a board (pre cut and routed from craft store) that I simply painted black.
