When young Opal saw his race as kings many years ago and believed they should still be kings of the Nation today. Becoming a tyrant wanting nothing more than to evolve, train and dominate the nation. While battling in preparation to his goal Opal evolved into a Tyranatrum/Vaporeon witch sprouted many new techniques that he used today. His ability being water adsorb allows him to regain health when in water and he used that to his advantage, often using surf to attack his opponent and allowing him to regain health at the same time. Being now a water type he made his own tunnel system under the water fall deep under water threw windy caves where he now lives, unable to be found from fellow ranch members unless he comes out.
When battling one day Pip told him about all the other Tyrants popping up around the nation, all wanting to take over and how it could bring utter chaos to the Nation. Those words stuck hard with him and Opal no longer wanted to take over the Nation, but rather be its silent protector helping it when needed. And so with a change of heart Opal set off increasing his bloodline and forming a army witch he trained them for the battles to come. Wishing to be ready for when the Nation needed help or when a tyrant needed to be taken down.
As his army grew a certain two pokemon in his linage were born, Riot and Razor. Both quite happily fighting for the cause but when Riot had his two daughters Sapphire and Lapis, Riot soon stood up to Opal wishing a better life for them. After a bit of fighting and growling Opal agreed on the terms that Riot was still within the army and would help when needed. His grand-daughter Razor had a different story, she one day sparked a friendship with a cross named Zeke witch was born on the same ranch but gifted to another trainer. Their friendship lead to an adventure but was short lived when the pokemons trainer hurt Opals trainer faith and she had had enough and never wanted to hear from him again. And thats just what happened, him and his pokemon disappeared and hid. Hearing the news of what had happened Razor and Opal had rushed over to the trainers home offering sympathy and comfort. Though when they saw the trainer crying and breaking down it sparked something in Razor, she quickly realised the actions that cross had were towards her were way to close for comfort and from what her trainer had said, that cross had turned out just like its trainer. Hatred sparked in Razors eyes before her whole body sparked and glew a brilliant white glow before fading revealing her growling evolved form. She told Opal what that cross had done to her and looking down on his trainer that hatred grew within him too. From that day forward Opal, Razor and every tyrunt/Tyranatum hated the Riolu or Lucario kind, even going so far as to Razor chasing down and attacking the father of the cross and making him run and hide deep within the dense forest on the west of the ranch.
Shortly after seeing his granddaughter Razor fighting the father of the hated cross he set her in charge of training up the pokemon as his army, ranking her as the general. Some time passed and Razor set off on a flight Opal was approached by the small Tyrunt/Fletchling named Apricot and told of the fight that went down between Letting You and Prize. Concerned the Nation could be under possible threat Opal told the cross to keep an eye on them and report back if it goes further. Thoughts rushed threw his head of the Nation in chaos, complete war between everyone, those dark thoughts set hard with opal and his body started to glow dark purple before turning completely black before fading revealing a more creepy and ghostlike Opal. Now calling himself The Mad King while lost in thought of the darkness that might come. Loving his new ghost typing, Opal makes use of his new move Shadow Sneak and often travels around as a mere shadow.
As for his attitude toward tyrants he doesn't hate them personally, merely what they stand for and are trying to achieve

After meeting Mockingbird, Opals life took a turn for the better, learning to love again Opal settled down with Mockingbird and had 7 children of their own witch Opal loves dearly. Caring much more about these children since they were between him and Mockingbird, Opal looks after his two daughters who stayed home and protects them constantly.
