Description ... Look who I found.

Doodle that turned out to be more elaborate than I first thought it would be.

Soy first met his older brother when he was about to turn ten years old, and it might have been better if they hadn't met at all. /=

... why can't I keep heads and bodies in proportion to each other? /=

Yaay, Soy as a kid is fun to draw. 8D And it's fun to draw Kaden without his facial fuzz. XD; He used to be quite handsome as a teenager.

Aaaaa! Soy as a kid =

....Sorry 'bout that.

Kaden looks really weird without the sideburns. I didn't even know it was him at first. Not bad, though. You should attack him with a razor.

He is cute, really. =3 Thank you.

Ha ha, I know. I was considering to put on the sideburns, only shorter and maybe a bit lighter, since he's only between fourteen and fifteen years old here.
XD You know, I've been thinking about shaving his face. Drawing his hair on top of the sideburns is a pain in some angles.

Yes, pretty much.
There would be pros and cons to it, of course. /= On one hand, he'd be easier to draw, but on the other hand, he'd look just like another black-haired bishounen without them. /=

I have to agree on that, his sideburns are a defining feature. But his personality is singular too, as is his wardrobe. And it could be a running joke.

Ah, this breeches the wall of adorability~.
Looks like one of those old photos that lies at the bottom of something and brings a wistful smile to your face every time you happen across them. In fact, it shoul be one of those photos ...

*whistle* So, how long did he stay with Kaden ... ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crunchturtle In reply to samisi [2008-08-22 16:36:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it should, but depending on who happens to find it, there might not be wistful smiles at all. /=

Not that long, actually. I would say a few weeks, maybe a month. When Kaden got tired of having his brother around, he sold him like a slave to a local gang. /= However, he did teach Soy some things about surviving out in the world, so he didn't just hurt him.

samisi In reply to crunchturtle [2008-08-22 17:27:35 +0000 UTC]

I figured as much. Then it should not be found until enough dust has settled on the memory for it to bring a wistful smile to anyone.

*shudder* Pretty harsh, really. I do so want to find out more about Kaden and his motivations ...

90 years later, the picture is found.
Soy: ... -squints- Oh yes, this was taken three weeks before he sold me to those bastards... -seethes-

Yes, I'm still trying to figure that out myself. He doesn't really do anything if he can't get something out of it, but some things he does would seem to be of no real gain for him directly (except for maybe a slight monetary gain), so it's quite a mystery.

*stern face* Look here, 90-year-old Soy, your brother is long dead by now (shut up, he is, isn't he??), and this is your sole memento. Look deep into his faded photographed eyes right this moment and give us a wistful smile!

Aaah~, unfolding characters' motivations is incredibly interesting.

Yes it certainly is, especially when the motivations twist in unexpected ways. (=

crunchturtle In reply to samisi [2008-08-24 08:51:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm not sure how long the older generations of the blood line would live, but I think that both Kaden and Soy are expected to live to maybe a little more than a hundred years of age, but not much longer. They're fifth generation after a lesser cat demon who fancied human girls, so the demon part of the blood has thinned out a bit already. /=

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

samisi In reply to crunchturtle [2008-08-24 12:28:08 +0000 UTC]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crunchturtle In reply to samisi [2008-08-24 15:03:03 +0000 UTC]

Yes, well, the demon who was the base of the blood line was known to be able to change shape into a human-like being. He was fairly harmless, but he had a bad habit of seducing and sometimes even raping human girls, which is why he wasn't exactly well-liked.

He had a lot of children before he disappeared, but one of his sons was pretty wild and out of control. He was put to death pretty soon after he started a world tour of rape and murder. But not before he had sired at least one son, who grew up to be not quite as wild as his father.

Still, he was rather unpleasant to be around, because he considered himself and others of his kind to be better than humans, mainly because demons usually have greater strength and more enhanced senses. He was different from his father and grandfather in the sense that he wouldn't choose just any woman to carry his children. But the one he chose died after giving birth to a daughter.

This daughter turned out to be a very unlucky girl. She became blind after an accident when she was three, and one of her arms were left pretty much useless after a serious injury as a ten-year-old. At nineteen, her father was killed and she was raped by the killers. She was then taken in by an elderly couple who cared for her until she died giving birth to her son, Kajin.

Kajin was very good-natured, but his demonic-looking eyes and long fangs and claws made people fear him. He joined a pirate clan at the age of 25, and sailed with them for quite some time.
Then he met Hannah, a woman who accepted him despite his looks, and he married her and had Kaden. Five years later, they had Soy, but Hannah died the day after Soy was born. The grieving Kajin left the island with his sons, never to return again. He left Soy with a couple who owed him a favour, and he took care of Kaden's upbringing himself.

... That was long. /=

*resting head on hands* *fairytale-glowy eyes* Long, but altogether intriguing~. Of course, this raises a myriad of new questions in my mind, but that only goes to show how interesting you've made their family history.

I'd want to know so much more about Kajin, particularly. It seems that much of the explanation for Soy's and Kaden's motivations alike lie with him ...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crunchturtle In reply to samisi [2008-08-24 17:07:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, their history is the one that has received the most attention this far. XD;

Yes, he is responsible for a lot of things that made his sons the men they are now. /= Even if Kaden grew up with him, Kajin was way too disconnected after his wife died to care for the boy the way he should have.

Yes, I don't think that I'll make a definite afterlife. It's a lot more interesting to make up different religions for different places and let them have their own afterlives. ^^ But I'm not really going to dwell too much in religion in this story either.
