Description
Well - technically I think it's an immature Bald Eagle, but I like the word "Hawk" better (sounds sleeker to me) and I think Red-Tailed Hawk are far more beautiful. AND - Red-Tailed Hawk make the true "Eagle" scream (the bald eagle sound overdubbed in movies is the Red-Tailed Hawk screech overdubbed as Bald Eagles only make lame chirps). I'm a bird nerd.So this is the first of a few bird vectors I want to make. Two more I want to do are Gannets and Cedar Waxwings - hopefully sooner rather than later.

i love the way youve used simple details to make powerful details, if that makes sense. i can see it on my windowsill [not in real life but..]

well, it looks like eagle from aquila genus. young bald eagles and other sea eagles have deep dark beak and small eyes. their skull look much diffrent.
I think you drew aquila verrauxi, also known as african black eagle.
i like this picture anyway, very good vector work

Opps - I changed the title a while ago (I had eagle at first) but forgot to change the description. I get Hawks and Eagles confused.

Middle School. While I would attempt to do a vector myself I'm rather incapable with such things and work mostly in painter and oekaki, and I know of no one else in my school that has any skill in art/manipulating photoshop. I can save it as a PDF file from the online program used to create the yearbook so you can see what it would look like if I have permission. I'm not sure if you have any copyright on your material. Just tell me what you want the text to read.
*I'm not sure if you have a problem with me editing it a bit. I was planning on leaving the hawk alone and extracting it onto a flat blue backround with a white/blue gradient stripe running accross, as our school colors are bluexwhite.

No - I have no problem with it. I can send you a pdf if you wish, when I track down the original illustrator file. When do you need it by? I'll send it without a background so it can just be plopped on.
Text could be "Illustration by Craig Pitman" maybe. I prefer "Illustration" to "Vector" or "Lineart". If you wouldn't mind, could you put a contact as well? Just me email address in case anyone sees it and wishes to contact me for information. It could just go under the "Illustration by".

Yeah, I could put a contact to your email or site if you want. I've already extracted the image into a PNG so I don't need the illustrator file. Many thanks for allowing usage~

This may sound painfully akward and seem like I'm imposing, however I'm going to go for it anyway. Our school mascot is a blackhawk and I came accross this image hoping to use it on the inner cover of our '06-07 yearbook. I of course plan on giving you credit by putting your name at the bottom of the page [Vector by (insert name)].
It would be rather rude to use the image without your consent. Please respond ;o ~

Is it a high school yearbook? I guess I wouldn't have any problem with it if it was - it's hard trying to find free imagery for that kind of thing in school.

hmm i think its the Red tailed Hawk??
Ok his sound isn`t very kingly
But the bald eagle is also not a very strong eagle. The golden eagle or the southamerican harpy are "better" eagle..
Never mind, your drawing is amazing

Why scared? Your chances of being bitten are very slim, and most of the 400+ species are harmless to man. :>

Thanks for the kind comments...
I find birds to be so different from the rest of the animals on the planet: flying, feathers, hard shelled eggs. That and in general they're always graceful and delicate. Sorta like human females I guess.

Oh - and judging from the orginal photo, I don't think the eagle/hawk is flying but eating... There was a feather on it's beak, and most offen when hawks/eagles eat at ground level they shrowd their meal with their wings to hide it from others in the area.
