Description
Well - technically I think it's an immature Bald Eagle, but I like the word "Hawk" better (sounds sleeker to me) and I think Red-Tailed Hawk are far more beautiful. AND - Red-Tailed Hawk make the true "Eagle" scream (the bald eagle sound overdubbed in movies is the Red-Tailed Hawk screech overdubbed as Bald Eagles only make lame chirps). I'm a bird nerd.So this is the first of a few bird vectors I want to make. Two more I want to do are Gannets and Cedar Waxwings - hopefully sooner rather than later.

Love it, though the beak does not blend with the rest of the drawing. It looks like you either just did something because you were tired or didn't know what to do. It looks out of place is what I'm trying to say. Otherwise, really nice!

Nod at the bird, and people die.
Everywhere, people die.
Sorry, just had to do that.
Great work btw!

I can't believe that I missed this DD before, in my past few accounts.
Truly amazing, I must say. I have no knowledge of vectoring, though, and do own PhotoShop. I'm a bit too lazy to Google it, I guess.
Late congrats on your very well-deserved Daily Deviation.

Thanks! You can actually do vector stuff in Photoshop too, using the pen tool. But it basically converts it to raster stuff as that's the nature of the program. It behaves the same though.

It is like a bald eagle, but look at this picture I found of a black hawk, it looks almost identical. [link]
Nice job, it's really cool

This picture makes me so happy! I'm a big bird nerd also, and proud of it.
The detailing around the eye is exquisite!
Someone already mentioned this, but I also think this is a Verreaux's/African black eagle. Juvenile bald eagles are more brown and have lots of white speckling.

Very true. I'm not that familiar with non-North American birds - I just assumed it was North American due to the source material being North American.

I'm not all that familiar with non-North American birds in general either; birds of prey are my specialty and I just happened to have seen photos of African black eagles before.
Tricky, tricky sources!

Nice to see something unusual depicted in a vector, feathers are tough to do and a real challenge. Grats on the DD hun!

I didn't take it if that's what you mean. Unfortunately. I can't remember where I got the source material now...
