Happy holidays everyone! Wish I could've finished this one earlier, but ugh, life. It sucks sometimes. So busy...
So, after my "Divide" piece that I made previously a lot of people have been asking why Crydius would go to such lengths to split up Catra and Adora.
Now you know.

Adora's not an Element. She didn't "join" the Rainbooms, she's just their friend, but even if she had it wouldn't matter as she doesn't have any actual power related to the Elements of Harmony.

So since all of the Elements of Disharmony have special powers and training, do any of the Rainbooms beyond what their necklaces give them? I know we saw Sunset still has some demon powers, but what about the others?

The others, at this point, don't have powers yet, as this story has not reached the Legend of Everfree point yet. They'll get them eventually but probably in a different way. I haven't decided yet.
The demonic power Sunset still has is a side-effect of her transformation in the first movie, and has nothing to do with her Element.
And only some of the Elements of Disharmony have actually discovered their powers. Tempest, Chara and Marshall have full control over it, though they aren't aware yet that what gives them their power is the Elements, Chrona and Dominator don't have control of it yet, it just happens whenever their Element comes into play, and Crydius and Catra, like the Rainbooms, don't know what their power is yet.

Huh.....didn't see this coming. And I keep forgetting that the EG series has 7 members, not just 6 (piss off Starlight). And I actually know most of the members this time; Catra being the main outlier to that statement. Granted, I know more of Chara and Tempest than consuming their actual media, but did finish Soul Eater (manga and anime) and saw all of the episodes involving Marshall and Dominator. They seem to fit their roles rather well, though seeing "Element of Avarice" has me now thinking of her fighting a certain wielder of the Orange Lantern.
....also, it just occurred to me that if Dominator exists in this universe, than likely an equivalent of Wander does too, and him meeting Pinkie would have me running for a panic room.

Okay, now it's starting to make some sense...
But shipping aside (and I know how very hard it is to put shipping aside) Catra doesn't seem like the best choice for betrayal. Maybe after she inevitably betrays you, you could start looking around for the Venom symbiote like the War!Crydius did. Now there's an Element of Betrayal for ya!

For example, let's say a man steals a bit of food and water but he did it because his wife and children are sick and hungry and he can't get a job because his degree and studies are on something that became obsolete. Definitely not a bad show there, Crydius, but a big problem lies with your Element of Betrayal. If she holds too true to her element, then she's as likely to turn on you all as she would on Adora. The rest might be flighty as all hell, but at least they're pretty loyal to ya. Catra's the only one who explicitly has none of that. Overall, quite the brainteaser, and one I can't WAIT to see elaborated upon!
As it is, to what depths does Crydius' desire for balance delve... this. Will be fun to watch.

Exactly! And that's the beauty of it. You probably figured as much, but I'm a huge CatrAdora shipper. I split them up because just like in the show that's where the meat of their relationship and its drama lies, but I hope of course that they'll get together eventually. Betrayal doesn't only suit Catra, after turning her back on Adora, but also works against her new "friends" and will probably be what brings her back to the good guys eventually. It all fit so well.

Indeed. Probably good for Crydius to get some egg on his face anyways when he realizes that his Element needs to be someone willing to betray others, but still remains loyal to him. Maybe not ironclad loyalty, but definitely no Brutus-to-be either XD

I believe we can apply Pinkie Pie to this problem if we want the hugger to survive. Oh my god Catra running into Pinkie Pie. Really encountering the entire Humane Seven would be interesting, but Catra encountering Pinkie specifically would be nuts.
