I've always had mixed feelings about TwiLestia.
On one hand, I like it. The adorkable nerd getting to let her teacher unleash other personality aspects such as silliness and passion.
On the other hand: the age difference is enormous, Twilight won't live forever, and Celestia has always been a teacher and mother figure to Twilight. That makes things a bit awkward.
But I definitely enjoy the teasing! XD Poor Sunnybun can't even right now.

Initially I wasn't much into it either. But then Twilight became an alicorn. And suddenly things got much more interesting. Now there's the possibility that Twilight may also live forever (plus age in Equestria is weird anyway, in the human world they're all teens, but in the pony world they all have jobs and their own houses and stuff, so it's really hard to tell how old everyone really is. And no matter how much time passes noone seems to age) and we've gotten some much needed interactions in Celestial Advice and Horse Play and it's made me like the ship even more.

I have a much darker viewpoint on that WoG. What are the odds that eventually the Mane 6 will make a mistake and a villain will actually take them down? I'd say it's better then even. And that's where we learn the difference between ageless and immortal.
Pinkie likely either makes utter tons of cash (do you think professional party planners don't exist? They do, and they are loaded. Well, at the level of organizing royal weddings anyways.) or literally lives off of donations. I actually think it's the former. She then reinvests nearly 100% of her income into her cave and future parties.
Fluttershy might be something like 'wildlife manager'. Humans basically have that job, and we just monitor the wildlife. Ponies likely actually direct them in some way.
Anyways, I actually see the age gap as being rather large between the EGS girls and the ponies. The ponies all have proper careers, and have long since finished school. Like Rarity isn't starting off as a fashionesta, she has a whole franchise. That's not something you do the first year out of college.

It's possible that Pinkie reinvests her party earnings into the party business. That would definitely explain why she also works at Sugarcube Corner.
Again, that's also possible. I've heard it theorized that Fluttershy might get money from the government for her part in taking care of the animals. So she may be part of Ponyville's local government workforce. Like Rainbow Dash when she's performing her weather duties.
There's definitely a large age gap between the Champions and the Rainbooms. Like I mentioned, the Rainbooms are getting into their later years of High School and have entry-level jobs. At the least, they're between 17 and 18. On the hoof side, I'd wager that the Champions are somewhere in their late 20s to early 30s at the oldest.

In Context of Canon? I don't think we'll get an answer, IE; I don't expect anyone to die, and I don't expect to get a '1000 years in the future' scene where it shows Twilight still being alive, but her friends being dead. I think that WoG is all we will ever get, and I don't really care all that much about WoGs. Like, if it doesn't come up in the show, then it doesn't matter there, and fanfiction is never strictly 100% canon by its very nature so it doesn't matter there either. So it only matters in conversations like this, and well there is no nice way to put this, but just because you care about the WoG doesn't mean I do.
Sure. It's possible, it's reasonable, and it explains what we see. What more do you want from a headcanon?
Pretty much. I've heard other explanations being that Fluttershy's family is just ludicrously wealthy, and that works too, but it's not really a better explanation.
