Description SPOILERS:
Maybe when Ravio was trying to talk sense to Hilda, the dark princess lashed out with her magic, and mortally wounded the former hero…
I don't know, please...

EDIT! Oh look, I did a write

“Please…” Ravio looked from his bow to the dark princess. “Let’s do the right thing this time.”
Hilda looked at her former hero with a look of distrust and anguish on her face. I tightened my grip on the Master Sword and held my ground in front of Zelda. If Hilda was going to attack her, she would have to go through me first. Though Lorule’s rat of royalty stood outnumbered, she was cornered. But a cornered rat was the most dangerous kind.
Suddenly, Hilda’s pulled out in a scowl and she pulled away from Ravio as if he had struck her. “Liar!” she screamed, insanity filling her voice. I jolted back a bit in shock. Had she gone mad?! She pointed her scepter around the room, as if to challenge everyone at once. Her mad scarlet eyes rested on Ravio, still crouched in a bow. “You traitor! Hyrule has corrupted you!”
Ravio stood up abruptly. He glanced back to me. “Get out of here! Now!” Shiro flew over his shoulder and landed on top of my sword. The white raven let out a distressed whistle to Ravio. I opened my mouth to speak, but my reflection answered for me. “Please, Mr. Hero! I can’t watch anyone else get killed!”
“Face me, you coward!” Hilda shrieked, hoisting her scepter like a sword. Ravio flashed me an urgent look and turned to his ruler.
“Hilda,” he began, carefully moving her attention away from me and Zelda by circling around her, “let’s think this through! Lorule isn’t too far gone! We can save it by saving Hyrule!”
Hilda’s scowl deepened to utter disgust. “You are no different from the rest of them Ravio… They’re all traitors!”
She swung her scepter at the purple-clad teen. Ravio leapt back and pulled something out from his sleeve. My eyes widened as I realized what it was: a good-sized dagger, used for hunting. There’s no way he’s going to kill her! My mind raced to reassure me. But as Hilda became more aggressive, I began to see the cowardice begin to fade from Ravio’s eyes to be replaced with adrenaline.
Shiro whistled for me and Zelda to come the way I came in. I stopped short. “I’m not leaving him!” I protested. When the white raven cocked its head in confusion, I continued, “He won’t be able to stand up to her!”
“Mr. Hero!!” Ravio called from across the room. “Get out of here! Don’t worry about me!” When I didn’t move, he mouthed the word, please.
“I always knew you were worthless!” Hilda’s cry shattered the calm moment. Ravio was taken by surprise and his guard was down. Hilda’s scepter swept the air and hit Ravio square in his chest. There was a muffled crack and Ravio was sent flying into the nearby wall. When he struck the stone, he didn’t cry out; instead he smothered a whimper and slid to the ground. Then, he was motionless, lying on his side. Zelda gasped, covering her mouth with her hands. I felt shock explode from within me and travel into my bloodstream.
Hilda looked over Ravio’s limp form. She nudged his ribcage with her foot, as if expecting a reaction. He moaned slightly before becoming quiet. She smirked and said quietly, “You were never a hero; how fitting of you to die for a world that isn’t yours.” Hilda backed away from him and looked to Zelda and me. I readied my sword, preparing for an attack. But Zelda was faster. A flash of blue illuminated my sight and I staggered away, blinking to clear my vision. there was a metallic clang of steel meeting stone. When I was able to see again, Hilda was on the ground.
“You killed her!” I gasped. Zelda shook her head.
“No,” she whispered, “I just calmed her. She’ll awaken in a couple of hours. Then she will have to answer for her actions.” She gestured to the unmoving Ravio. My heart quickened. He hadn’t moved an inch! How hard had Hilda struck him?!
“Ravio!” I couldn’t keep myself from screaming. I forced my feet to move in his direction.
Shiro was already there, chirping and whistling to his master. No response was given to the small white bird.
I stopped at Ravio’s form and fell to my skinned knees. My reflection was breathing; that realization allowed my heart to slow its frantic beating. His eyes were closed, and his eyebrows were knotted, as if in pain.
I gently moved him into my arms, careful not to disturb him or to cause any more torture for the sensitive teen. Ravio groaned, and flinched slightly. His eyes fluttered open.
“... Mr… Mr. Hero!” he said, his voice harsh. A coughing fit wracked his body and he weakened in my grasp. “Why are you s-still here? Hilda… She will kill both of you!”
“She’s… She’s taken care of…” I forced myself to whisper.
Ravio opened his mouth to inquire further but a rough bout of coughing prohibited him from speaking. Everytime he breathed, it sounded as if something were rattling inside of his lungs.
“Z-Zelda,” I croaked, “what’s wrong with him?” The princess knelt down beside Ravio and laid a hand on his chest. As gentle as her touch was, Ravio let out a sharp yelp of agony, tears forming at his eyes. Zelda pulled her hand back in bitter understanding.
“I don’t know how but…” she said, each word paining her. “Hilda shattered his chest. This should’ve caused critical damage to his ribs and lungs. It could’ve placed his heart off-beat, depending how much strength she used.” Almost instantly I grabbed Ravio’s wrist and pressed my thumb to that precious vein that carried lifeblood. Sure enough, just as the princess had said, the beat of his heart was off, sounding too close together, with a considerable gap between the beats. That much time with no blood flowing was fatal in due time.
“Hilda must’ve used the last of her magic to deliver a blow that would end his life so painfully.” I looked up to Zelda.
“We… We can’t save him?” I asked, my voice cracking. Zelda sighed a placed a hand on my shoulder. Not that I felt her presence anyway. It was just me and Ravio at this point. I let out a rugged sob, hanging my head over his chest.
“Why are you crying?” Ravio’s voice scratched the air. I looked down to him. Ravio suddenly seemed to understand. “It’s… It’s because I’m dying… right?”
“Why aren’t you scared?” I whispered. Every time I fell in battle, before the fairy I had revived me, I felt an awful fear. It churned in my stomach before all feeling left me. Then I was back, picking myself up from battle, bloodstained, but unscathed. Yet, that feeling of awful dread, of what lurked beyond, threatened to bring vomit to my mouth.
“I’m terrified…” Ravio admitted with a raspy cough. Blood began to come up, and spilled over to the corner of his lips. More terror filled my mind. Just imagine what Ravio’s feeling…
“It’s… It’s going to be okay…” I said, my mouth suddenly feeling dry. “It doesn’t hurt. Don’t worry.”
“That’s nice to hear,” Ravio smiled, some pep returning to his paling face. “I don’t deal good with pain.”
“You’re doing just fine right now…” I commented. Ravio looked to me.
“Well… maybe some of your courage rubbed off on me… eh, Link?”
I felt surprise sprout in my chest. That was the first time ever Ravio had ever called me Link… I felt him relax, as if the pain was ebbing away. His grip on my wrist slackened and he seemed somewhat lighter. “No, no,” I whispered desperately into his ear, “don’t you dare do this to me, Ravio….”
I hugged him closer, as if to preserve his warmth. Ravio let out a small cough, and his head rolled to me, his eyes slightly open. Suddenly, the air became too heavy to breathe in anymore. I choked on my own breath; tears were now streaming down my cheeks. A million words wanted to spill out of my mouth, but I could only form one.
“Ravio… Ravio…? RAVIO!!!!” I screamed, as if my words would bring him back. I half-expected him to lazily open his eyes fully and give me a glare. But he remained motionless, the warmth beginning to fade from his body. Shiro let out an awful screech and hopped onto his master’s ruined chest. The bird whistled and made noises equivalent to screams of anguish.
Ravio… You were the most heroic person I’ve ever known. You died to save a world that wasn’t even yours… Why did Hilda-
Suddenly, rage filled my mind. I looked to Zelda. “Hilda did this to him.”
Zelda opened her mouth to reply, but I didn’t let her. “One’s punishment for murder is murder itself.”
“We cannot kill the only light this world has left, Link…” Zelda said, her voice sad and low. I glared at her, before feeling my anger burn out. My gaze relaxed and I sighed, exhaustion washing over my sore limbs. I couldn’t kill anyone… not after what Ravio went through… It took hatred to kill… I slowly brushed two gentle fingers over his eyes, closing them forever. I had nothing left in me… I was done.

Fffffff- I just stumbled across this and alskdjflkjgh THE FEELS.

X'DD It admittedly reminds me of something I'm working on, based on a picture from Tumblr... What if instead of Hilda, it was Ravio himself that spun it around on Link at the end, and they had to fight? a;lsdkfjkhg

Thank you!
I like to see of what could've happened rather than a happy ending.

I don't know why but I would have prefer this version than the actual end. Too much happiness for me, I'd prefer a more serious thing. Nice art by the way :3

Thank you! I agree with you. It says multiple times in the game that Ravio is a coward, and what better way to redeem his title as hero than to sacrifice his own life to save a world that isn't even his? Sorry, I kinda started ranting...
