Description
The Martian Scout Machine provides maximum agility for the invasion forces. Used often to take out small settlements or searching and locating primary targets for the larger more powerful Fighting Machines. They are equiped with a light heat-ray.
I really like how this turned out, It's back leg doesnt satisfy me completely, and the feet are wrong along with some other minor details I would have liked to have added. But the complexity meter in spore just wont alow it.
This machine is based off of the design from Jeff Waynes Musical Video Game of HG Wells Classic Sci-fi novel: "The War of the Worlds"
This particular machine was designed for the Martian infantry. And was never mentioned in the novel, as it didnt exist in the original story. But it's always nice to see the book expanded...
Thanks to [link] for providing detailed recreation images of the machine for refferencing,. It was a massive help!
~Enjoy!

Vehicles. It's very hard to make creatures look like vehicles.

This has been in my imagination.
I've been think that instead of the fighting machines going into the water to fight the british dreadnoughts, how about using martian water striders as an alternative? :[link]

I've heard of this idea before, unfortunately I like to keep the contents of the original story unchanged.
But the idea is a nice one, although I wouldn't see how the Martians were so capable of creating aquatic based machines when they themselves have had very little interaction with large bodies of water on their planet.

they use to have water didn't they.
also they have to make their machines adapt to earth environments.

Used to, yes. But I would suspect that they haven't had water for thousands of years. Exactly why they want Earth instead.
Perhaps in some side story they might have created some water based vehicle, but none that were witnessed by the Narrator.

could have done it since the problem of the tripods wading in the water in the novel is that they would slow down.

Their speed didn't seem to make much of an issue for them, they still defeated the Thunderchild as well as successfully acquiring domination over England if not the world. The durability and effectiveness of their Fighting Machines still stands strong. I'm not saying the skimmers would be a bad idea, its a great concept.

I understand, it would be an interesting machine to see in action. I'll get around to designing one in Spore when I play it again

It not as intense, meaning it can destroy simple structures and humans well, but when it comes to let's say, the thunderchild, it would taker longer to burn...

Haha, well it was a weaker machine in the game to the larger Fighting machines.

Awesome work! It looks really really good!
You should make a movie with all your machines, I would love to see them walking around

Sadly spore doesnt allow rigging for those kinds of animations
I would love to see them walk around as well. But in spore it's just too difficult. I could try making creatures that look like the machines, that'd be more of a challenge, bit it can be done...
Thanks again

Okay, I thought that Spore also allowed the machines to move around, ah well for the Machines to walk around we got the War of the Worlds pc Game
But seriously you did a really really good job on this! It looks fantastic

Well, they move and everything, but they cant tell when you've designed a lego or not. The game just isnt programmed for that.
Thanks again, Much appreciated.

They should make a game like that one day, a first person survival game with the Martian Machines attacking all over England A bit in the style of the King Kong game, but with more freedom then just following the one set path
(and another version that has First Person Martian view, so you can burn everything
)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to see what else you're going to make , I just finished the Scanning Machine, so I'm going to upload that in a few moments, once the renderings are complete

Oh, I simply LOVED the King Kong game. I used to play that all the time. King Kong is one of my favourite films, so classic. Brilliant game, even though it was a bit limited.
And good! The scanning machine sounds cool

It's one of my favorite games to, I've played that game over and over again xD
And I think that the first person survival style is simply epic I would love to see a War of the Worlds game based on that, and then in multyplayer game style, so you could team up together and make a group while trying to stay alive during the invasion.
I got the whole Idea already in my mind But then again, it's probably never going to happen, but still xD
