It was an rp plot. Rothlin is Xelcius' [link] illegitimate son adopted and raised by a couple in his father's employ. Upon learning of his true bloodline, Rothlin sought to gain inheritance of the family fortune by systematically killing off the legitimate heirs, starting with Xelcius' brothers Kraiden [link] and Zoltar [link] and their families.

He spiralled into madness and through some detective work was eventually found out to be the villian. He was captured, brought to trial and hanged for his crimes.
